Had first mammogram after treatments today. There was no cancer. But I do have a lump near where the node was. The lump has been growing since beginning of July. They aren't sure what it is because it didn't show up on ultrasound or mammogram. I will have it removed on Aug. 24 by an excision biopsy.

Pathology from the biopsy indicated that the lump was scar tissue. Surgeon said it was from the radiation. Now I believe them when they say there is no cancer.

I also have an abscess that if the antibiotic doesn't take care of it by Thursday, the surgeon will cut it out. I just don't understand why I am having so many issues with the surgery site. My family thinks I am doing too much, but the surgeon said I could go back to my normal activities. I wonder how common the seroma and suture abscess is.......my body won't dissolve the dis-solvable stitches which is also an issue.

In the past month, I have had some minor set backs with healing. My incision site kept breaking open. I had what was called a suture abscess. The knots in my dis-solvable stitches weren't dissolving, thus causing my body to try to get rid of them. There was no infection. Site broke open 3 times after appearing to heal. I did have some fluid removed from the tumor cavity too. It didn't hurt to have it removed...I actually felt better after the fluid was gone because there was less pressure/pain.

Had SIM appointment for radiation today. They got me set-up and and measured for the actual radiation. They were real careful about making sure everything lined up the right way. I have a ton of ink marks all over my chest and ribs. Then they made three tattoo ink dots on me for them to use to line me up the same way every time I go for the radiation. They will call me later to give me the radiation schedule. They still have to finish my treatment plan.

48 hours after surgery....I got to take a shower !!! YEAH....Then realization....I now have one boob smaller than the other. But I still have it. :D Feeling shaky, weak and tired. I am diabetic and having problems with keeping blood sugars up there. Odd, because theoretically the blood sugars were expected to go high on me. I was told they will go high during radiation too. I am in constant contact with the diabetic educator. She even gave me her cell phone number. So all is good.

Glad to hear you are doing better. Keep and eye on that sugar level, good to know you have direct contact with someone if you need it.
