      How did your procedure go?

So, after 7 days in the hospital, 2 additional surgeries, 3 blood transfusions, and LEACHES…the result is a right failed flap and a potential partial failure on the left (still TBD). Basically I need to go back and re-do at least the right side. I'm pretty devastated.

Dr is now recommending back flap (lat dorsi) with implant to be done in the next week.

Still recovering and trying to digest what has happened quickly to prepare for the next step. Next week seems too soon for another surgery, but maybe it will be best to get it done and shorten the recovery?

      Any comments on this welcome.

One year ago today... I got the "It's Cancer" call that forever changed my life. In reflecting on this last year, I feel so lucky that I stumbled upon this site and had this virtual support throughout some very rough days.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone for your advice and well wishes.

Am I off to a rough start, or what?

After my first chemo on June 14th, I developed an infection in my port and was hospitalized for 6 days, then on IV antibiotics at home for 10 days.

Finished antibiotics July 4th and had Chemo #2 July 5th (which was delayed 1 week due to being on antibiotics). Immediately after, I got some type of virus which felt like a sinus infection with coughing and is now like bronchitis.

I am supposed to have Chemo #3 this Friday and have not had a break in the action. What's going on?! I expected some downtime, but this is a bit much.

    Feeling walloped.

It treats us all differently, you may get your second wind and start feeling a little better. Be sure to tell your doctors how you're feeling so they have an idea what's happening. They will sometimes adjust your doses to adjust.
