There are no absolute ways to avoid recurrence of any cancer. You can lower your statistical risk by maintaining a healthy body in general. Eat a healthy, balanced diet, exercise, don't smoke, maintain a healthy BMI, etc.

If anyone finds a sure fire way, will gladly pay a very large sum for it!!! Nancy is correct in what see said. I would add that you should keep up with your check-ups and screenings as if it does return it is best that it is caught early. Good luck!!!!!!!

Regular exams! Colon cancer is generally a slow-growing cancer, so with early detection, polyps can be removed so they do not develop into the cancerous stage.

I was disappointed that the doctor found a polyp when I had my post-chemo colonoscopy (just call me a PPP - a polyp-producing-person!), but he wasn't because it was removed and I will now be screened every 18 months. Polyps can take years to develop into a cancerous tumor so with early detection, you can reduce the risk.
