    A celebration....7...count seven years....yes 7 years as a survivor!!!!

02/03/2006 is the day that changed my life forever....I was told that I had breast cancer. Stage 3A ILC. I survived a bilat mastectomy, chemo, radiation, ooph and endured 3 1/2 years of side effects on the AI's before I said enough!!!! .
7 years later my oldest DD has graduated college and married; my son finished high school, attended colleged, worked and travelled and just left for Israel for 5 months; and my youngest DD who was only in grade two at the time....I'm getting to see her grow up into a beautiful young lady...she became a Bat Mitzvah, is a freshman in high school and soon to get a learners permit to drive (now thats scarey!!).
I'm no one's hero, BC wasn't a gift...I just did what we all do when we are faced with cancer...one step at time...go through treatments so that we can live....and to live life to the fullest that we can. Breast cancer is a hard journey, but it is DOABLE!!!!!!

God love you Karen! You have already been such a gift to me at the start of my journey. It is so good to know you were stage 3 and you are still here!! I'm clinically stage 1 --- won't know until after double mast and node biopsy what my final number is. No more down in the dumps... I did that to myself for about 48 hours and it was XXX. Now I just say HEAR. ME. ROAR!!! Happy Anniversary --- Happy LIVING!

CONGRATULATIONS! This is very inspiring! I had early colon cancer in 2008 and breast cancer in 2009. I also did chemo, radiation and continue to take the AI's, the side effects suck & I am on my 3rd one. I am so happy for you!

Congrats Karen! Wonderful news. BC can be a difficult journery but keep doing what you did: take one step at a time, one day at a time and pray that God will continue to bless you.

I was diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian on Jan. 25th.. 2006... Surgery on Feb. 23, 06 and have walked that path beside you to here on WhatNext. I sure wish we could have walked it together with What Next... but I'm glad we're both here now. It's not an easy journey, but it's so doable!!!! Glad you made it and just wait.... for weddings and grandchildren... God is Good and grants us LIFE!!!!
