    A Good Week

I met with my oncologist (melanoma). 24 week scans were once again stable and blood test was good. I will continue taking vemurafenib. Also met with urologist (prostate cancer). Digital exam - all smooth and PSA was 2.5. I'll continue with active surveillance.

This is such great news to hear from a fellow melanoma warrior. Continued success in this seemingly never-ending battle. I have been in the trenches as have been on Keytruda, one day every three weeks, and last scan showed a tumor that Keytruda had not been helping the immune-system battle effectively and just finished adjunctive radiation treatment and still staying on Keytruda will have my next set of scans end of July and hoping to have similar results to yours. You set the bar for me to emulate. Keep the faith.

@papabill - when did you start Keytruda? It takes a while for immune checkpoint inhibitors to show result. I had 4 rounds of ipi/nivo last year - started in early Feb and last round at end of April. It was not until July that my scans improved. Hope July is good for you, too!
Unfortunately I had to come off ipi/nivo thanks to kidney damage but scan got better until the one in May showed multiple mets -lung, liver, subcutaneous, nodes, etc. I started Tafinlar and Mekinist two weeks ago and the subcutaneous lump on my abdomen that was big as a macadamia nut is now almost gone!

Donnain...thanks for the reply. i have been on Keytruda "only" since January and hope that as you indicate it still will take a while to truly kick-in. Am sitting on pins and needles now awaiting my July scans to see then if Keytruda kicks in, but also if the radiation destroyed the new tumor on my liver. What a way to live. They also are watching my kidneys as my creatinine levels are at the highest level of "normal zone." Keep in touch and keep the faith.

@papabill I was so glad to see you on this thread. I have been wondering how you are doing. Last time we talked you had just watched a baseball game. Still following baseball? My braves have been trying to hold onto first place. It’s been a fun baseball year so far.

I am also hoping for great scans for you in July! Let us know.
@Dick_K that gives all of us hope! Melanoma does not play fair but there is always hope! I have had clean scans since July 2016.
