Abnormal pap six months after chemo/radiation/brachytherapy treatment for cervical cancer. Has this happened to anyone else?

I finished my treatment in June of 2012. ECC's in July and October were fine, PET scan in October clear. I just went for another three month followup and I got the call today that the pap came back "abnormal glandular cells of undetermined significance". The Gyn Onc wants to see me again, but I can't get in until the end of next week...lots of time to worry.

Try not to worry. I worked as a clinical assistant in an ObGyn practice and saw many patients come in after getting abnormal pap results. The doctor may order another pap in 3-6 months. There is also a way the doctor can get a better idea of what is going on by doing a test in the office called a colposcopy. This test takes a few minutes while the doctor takes a sample of the cervical and endocervical cells. The choice of test the doctor makes is completely his/her decision based on your medical history, but these are 2 options the doctor I worked with chose to handle abnormal pap results. I know it's easy to say don't worry but please try not to worry yourself. If you have concerns prior to seeing the doctor, call the office and speak with a triage nurse who can answer your questions and ease your mind. Take care and best of luck to you.

I have my first followup pap in March, so I haven't experienced this yet, but I just wanted to pop in and say that I'll keep you in my thoughts this week!

Sunny D... please keep that pretty smile on your face. I'll say a prayer that all will be well when they have a chance to look closer. I know about two years ago my PA said... Carol I need to do a biopsy.... there's something I don't like in here. My heart jumped into my throat, I raised my hand in the air.... and heard "I'm still here" in my brain. It turned out to be nothing. She kept appologizing for scaring me.

One of the things I did while I was waiting for my biopsy results was to plan something for every day until the appointment, that way I thought about it less. Will keep you in my thoughts!

I was treated with brachytherapy treatment in aug 2012. My pet scans show nothing has come back in my cervix. I get examined every 3 weeks. I feel symptoms like menstrual cramping in my cervix and pelvic pain. I do not have my ovaries so why am I feeling like I am going to start my period. I also have vaginal pain. and pain in rectum. Has any one experienced these symptoms? I am so worried it is coming back.
