This is a problem that needs to be tackled asap, because once hair loss is long term it is very hard to grow back. If I were would do I would go running around to different doctors immediately, contact your PCP of course because this might not be not cancer related. You will need blood work done to see what is going on in your body and if you have a serious vitamin deficiency. How is your diet by the way? A unbalanced diet can cause hair loss sometimes, but so can many other things. I also would see a dermatologist immediately because usually they are the ones to go to for hair loss problems. But call your oncologist as well, let them know what is going on and ask if it could be cancer or cancer treatment related, and go in to see him just for his opinion. I guess I’m saying that I would see 3 different doctors for 1 problem, but that is how nervous I would be about possible permanent hair loss. Because I’m pretty sure that waiting around for months while your hair is falling out is not a good idea, if I were you I would try to figure out this problem in weeks so that you have a better chance of doing something about it. l
In the meantime- with your doctors permission start taking MSM and try using the topical Rogaine as well, I use the generic Kirkland version of Rogaine ( sold at Costco and Amazon ) I started using it immediately when I got a bald spot and it worked. And MSM helps as well with hair growth and also joint problems. I haven’t used this I’ve heard something called biotine? also works very well for hair growth.
Good luck and I hope that you have a full hair of head soon!

thanks, I appreciate the response. my diet is good (guess it could always better) and have been taking biotin since the hair starting growing back. am waiting to hear back from oncologist to see what they think but will follow up with PCP and dermatologist to rule out other causes. expect it will wind up being yet another one of the surprises that can occur after so inflicting so much abuse. no complaints, just the reality of survival.

Also, have your thyroid checked out. It can cause hair loss if not working properly.

There are pills called Priorin . I think it is a German product. Check it out . It is an over counter pills , but u need to consult your doctor about the real cause for your hair loss first. Best of luck.
