Any good food suggestions for friend undergoing salivary gland removal?

This question has nothing to do with my own cancer journey. I'm on a food-providing team for a friend who will be having her salivary glands (on one side, I think) removed due to cancer. What will she best be able to eat after surgery, and does anyone have any really yummy recipes or other suggestions on how to best support her? The facial nerve will be severed, so I assume that will mean no facial movement on that side. When I was recuperating from surgery and undergoing chemotherapy, people brought food for me and my husband, and we appreciated it very much. I want to give her the best nutrition I can in a form that she will be best able to manage. Thanks, everyone.

My saliva glands are burned and one was removed. I really like the sugar free hard candies that Russel Stovers makes as well as Spry Xylitol candies (from the health food store). I always have Trident gum in my pockets or purse for the same reason - dry mouth attacks suddenly and strong. These are great for changing the taste in the mouth without damaging the teeth.
She will need to have something to drink with everything she eats. So a good water bottle to carry is a good thing to have - one of the stainless ones is what I use.
Without the saliva you cannot breakdown food as easily, you need to have the water to help with this. Dry foods are difficult to deal with do extra fats or sauces help. I hope this helps you - Tracy
