    any ideas on treating painful mucositis

      I took omeprazole (the presciption version of prilosec and immodium for the accompanying diarrhea.

      I was prescribed Nystatin, which is a swish-n-swallow anti-fungal. For some reason, it helped. I also had some of the generic "magic mouthwash", but never used it. It completely numbs your oral cavity and there is danger that you could injure your cheek or tongue due to a total lack of feeling. If you use the magic mouthwash with liquid or blended foods, that would be fine.

      Ask your doctor for a prescription of Miles Solution and use some popsicles to keep your mouth numb to help with the pain. Best of luck to you, Carm RN.
