I would suggest trying to find an expert in your cancer type at Harvard or Mass General.

Hi, I'm Aliza, a Medical Librarian. I'm retired, but still work in the field doing research for people here and elsewhere. I live in NYC (I'm a BC patient and am treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering) so I don't know specifically of oncologists in Boston, but I can refer you to seek one out at Dana Farber Cancer Center. Look up their website on Google. You'll be directed to their website (you don't have to register). Then depending on the kind of cancer you're seeking an oncologist for (and the kind of doc you're seeking), they offer you a choice (URL-wise) between Dana Farber itself or The Brigham and Women's Children's Hospital.

I hope you can follow this easily-let me know if you have difficulty or email me if there's an urgent or specific problem. Take things one step at a time (without panic if possible). My best advice-for all of us.

      Best wishes,
      AlizaMLS

I have cholagiocarcinoma am presently being treated at Sloane Kettering in NYC. My Doctor's name is Nancy Kemeny (reverently refered to as the Queen of the pump). I have a Hepatic Artery Infusion Pump imbedded in my abdomin) this pumps chemo directly to my liver. I also receice systemic chemo. I was diagnosed a year and five months ago with a prognosis of 3 to 6 months. Sloane Kettering was were I got my second opinion. I have been well please needless to say.

I travel from Vermont to be treated at Sloane Kettering. I only have to visit once a month for pump maintenance and scans. Other treatment is done in Vermont by an assoc. of Dr. Kemeny's.

I go to Faulkner Hosp. It is affiliated w/ Dana-Farber and Brig/Womens. Its easier for me to get to Faulkner, I'm not much of a city driver. I live near the canal, I can be there in 1 hour. For certain things I have to go to the other locations, it's not much farther, but I get someone else to drive. I have been happy w/ Dr. Morganstern, but I don't know what types of cancer he deals with. The nurses and other staff are the best. Good luck to you.
