Anyone making a new year's resolution?

Anyone making a new year's resolution?

I know, this is such a cliche question - but 'tis the season and I bet we'll hear some great resolutions. Thanks!

Yes! I'm going to do something just for me at least once a day. For me, this is painting, even if it's just part of one, I think it is important to do something supportive (non-cancer related) once a day. Did you make any?

Eat better and lose weight. I lost of lot of weight with my cancer treatments and now about 9 months later I weigh more than I did before.

On December 26, I registered at two Relays for Life in San Francisco to walk the Survivors Lap. The first will be April 14 at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). I finish radiation on February 17 and stop taking Coumadin on May 10, so I hope to have enough energy to use my walker to make it around the track. The other Relay for Life takes place at Crissy Field on August 4. By that time, I should be able to gather a team and raise some funds.

What do you think about participating in walking at least one lap and publicizing the Relay for Life to your family and friends?

I have one goal - to be here and able to attend the graduation ceremonies for two of my sons mid-2013. Everything else is in support of that. Once I reach that goal I will consider a new goal. :)

Paprika - I like your resolution, doing something for yourself at least once a day.

My goal for 2012 is the usual - eat healthier and lose weight. The difference this year is that I found out last week I am prediabetic, which means I can keep from becoming diabetic by diet and exercise. Recently moved to the 6th floor of the building I work in and am taking the stairs as much as possible.

I usually don't make New Year's resolutions because I always mess them up on Jan. 2nd, but this year I resolve to plan a motorcycle trip with Kevin (my husband who has cancer) maybe up to New Hampshire or Lake George, NY. Take that, cancer!

I always made the same resoulutions each year. One was, of course, to lose weight and the other was to quit procrastinating. I then proceeded to wait until January 2 to start my diet, defeating both resolutions almost immediately. That just never seemed to work out for me.

I no longer make resoultions but I am going to work on getting more exercise. To be frank with you, I hate to exercise but I know it is essential to my health and since I feel I have been given a second chance it's the least I can do to return the favor.
