I have cholangiocarcinoma. inoperable mass Stage 4.

My doctors implanted an hepatic arterial infusion pump that pumps chemo directly to my liver 24/7 for every two week regime. The pump infuses with Floxuidine. I also receive systemic chemo (gemzar) every two weeks. (both at the same time). There are times I take breaks from the pump. It is pretty strong stuff.

This is a life perserving treatment, it won't cure the cancer, but it t makes it liveable. I've been doing this for just slightly a year. Feeling pretty good a majority of the time.

Nanny111512, I am not a patient but an oncology nurse and surgery is not impossible with vein involvement, just more risky because of the higher degree of difficulty. They can debulk or resect the tumor and then do a vein reconstruction. Otherwise chemo is a safer option. Best of luck to you, Carm.
