Barium Sulfate should taste more like....

I'm suffering through my second bottle of "Readi-Cat 2" for my CT scan today. If they made these taste more like a margarita they would go down so much better! Any other suggestions about how it would be more palatable?

Ha! good idea Jule, you should look into that, maybe a whole new line of work for you. I don't have a suggestion for you, I always just take as many drinks as quick as I can, kind of holding my breath. Then wait a while and go at it again.

Maybe someone has tried mixing it with something?

The first time I had a CT they gave me the vanilla which tasted to me like chalk but this time they gave me the berry flavor which tasted better and wasn't as thick. Just remember that it's easier to drink when it's really cold. But I do agree with you on the margarita flavor, especially strawberry margarita. Take care.

I could choose from iced tea or lemonade. I chose lemonade, not too bad with lots of ice.

My CT place likes to give out the banana flavored stuff. Thick, creamy and YUCKY! I still cannot stand the smell of bananas because of this stuff. Instead They give it out becasuse it is more stable than the clear stuff. I choose to go a few days before and pick up the crystal light enhanced FLAT lemon flavor. Also comes in berry - ugh.
Margarita or daiquiri flavored would be so much better!

My hospital offers a variety of mixtures none of them are very good. At first they only offered diet carbonated drinks like diet sprite. (due to the fact that I am missing 2/3 of my esophagus and part of my stomach, I cannot drink carbonated drinks. So I asked them for just water actually that worked OK. My next Ct scan they had cranberry juice it was OK however I never wanted to drink cranberry juice again. Now I am on worfrin so I can't drink cranberry so they gave me grape juice. bad idea. I have a really bad reaction to Readi-Cat and I started shaking and spilled some on my clothes (grape juice stains) My suggestion would be choose something you really don't like then follo GregP's advice. I try to schedule my scans as late as possible and plan on the rest of the day with nausia and shaking

They told me I could mix crystal light with it. I used iced tea and it didn't taste half bad

The place where I get my CT scans uses something with the consistency of water and has no taste. Prior to that change, I always used a fat straw. For me getting it to the back of my mouth quickly was a big help.
