    Benefits of docetaxel

What are the expected benefits of the use of docetaxel for prostate cancer control and for how long ? How was your experience in practice ?

Doxetaxel (trade name Taxotere) is a commonly used chemotherapy drug for several types of cancer. I had Taxotere infusions for my inflammatory breast cancer. The only benefit of this and all chemotherapy drugs is to kill cancer cells. I took for 4 months and it prevented the cancer cells from spreading through both my lymph and vascular systems and reduced the total size of the cancer so that I was able to be in remission after a subsequent mastectomy.

My experience was to have my PSA drop from 99 to 36 from May 10 to August 23. While mine did not stay lowered as long as the onc expected it was a good 4 months of fighting my cancer and we move on.

Keep it positive and smile :)
