• Benign!

Asked by TerriL on Thursday, November 7, 2019

After my last MRI I had to have a biopsy. 4.5 hours later (included a broken machine, blown out veins, etc.) I was ready to wait for the results. Yay! It was benign, a fibroadenoma. I hope I can limit the scanxiety next time.

Great news! Sorry you had some trials to get there, but benign is worth it! Hope you get to go celebrate.

I'm so sorry that you had to go through that terrible process to get your MRI. However, the results couldn't have been better. Congratulations.

I'm confused, because the ultra sound and mammogram dept.told me it was benign and to get a mammogram every 6 months.I started getting anxious about this information, becausre I had a lump.I finally saw a surgeon and told me after the 2 surgeries I had to have was that I was with cancer for 2-3 years and no biopsy is taken by only a surgeon. It spreaded to my lymp loyds

I'm so sorry, PaulineJ! I had a year of treatment which just ended a few months before this test, so I had already gone through the "cancer wringer."

Good news! I went through something similar last year, being three years out at the time. Found a small lump, had an ultrasound; radiologist said it was a hamartoma and benign. Nurse practitioner for my oncologist said "not so fast" so had a biopsy as well. It is a hamartoma, benign even though it is very sensitive to touch and is often painful. The waiting and wondering is excruciating. I've had so many issues like this that have turned out to be nothing, but the process gets old. Hope this is the last you have to deal with such issues.
