Oops hit the button too soon. I mean ANY SYMPTOM. See your PCP regularly my PCP sees her cancer patients twice a year. That way you might be able to catch other maladies like high cholesterol. Any really bad symptom like sever headache of bad bowel problems report to your PCP immediately. Oh and look both ways when crossing the street and drive carefully.
I observe most of these points And I also say I feel cured therefore I am cured.

meatcutter, read your experiences. You note they were able to remove all of your tumor in a little over seven hour surgery. You do realize, how lucky you are that no further treatment was necessary. There are no guarantees with cancer but you have had an awakening to how vulnerable we all are. Regular checkups and a healthy lifestyle should be your agenda. You have 1 kidney and 2/3 of the other, more than enough to see you to a ripe old age. Get busy living your new normal.

Renal cell carcinoma is a very challenging problem for oncologists, I have read. Because there is no chemotherapy for it, only recently (in the last 10 years) discovered "immunotherapy" with "biologics." The chances for it to spread to the lungs and bone are fairly high, so my surgeon recommended IVP CT scan with chest xray and labs every 3 months for awhile, then every 6, then 9 and so on. The labs are to watch for bone mets and the chest xray (though not nearly as accurate as CT scan of lungs) for lung mets. I have had the chest xrays but now have a tumor in my lung which only showed up on chest CT they were doing while hospitalized for a completely different reason. I agree to work closely with the Oncologist for the latest treatments for renal cell carcinoma. Be proactive and try to be positive. That's what I'm doing now. Take care.
