    Can't breathe

    Ever since they infused 5.8 fluid from beside my lung I have trouble, breathing no trouble before alto the Dr. Said I should. They tasted my heart and it was ok I think. Anyone else this has happened too. Very hard to breathe at the moment

      I am a little confused. Did they remove the fluid from your lungs? I had fluid removed and I could breath better. Sorry it’s a different kind of cancer and probably different terminology. I would definitely call your doctor or the doctor on call. Anytime they were near my lungs they worried and watched for a partial collapse so I would be safe and call.

      No it was beside my lung but I was suppose to breathe better too but it was worse. Took an xray and said nothing wrong. Got all the fluid but so afraid it will come back. If it does they will put a drain in so I can do it myself. On Ibrance and wbc are, only 2.4 so could be my blood. I think they ruled out my heart as test in a week never heard from anyone so no news is good news.

      Mine was actually on my lungs, but fortunately it did not come back. If it doesn’t get better I would call. Hope you feel better real soon!

      Fluteplayer, I think you should call your doctor and tell him how difficult breathing is. Have they done a CT scan (in addition to the Xray they took?)?

      Pneumothorax? Collapsed lung? Something is not right.

      My family thinks I am Phsyo and need Mental care. Had to go for help when my pastor made my cancer worse by saying he would see the ventange of God would get me.Took 3 months of help to get that out of my head. This time I was so scared to getting it sucked out ,I wrote goodbye letters to everyone that mattered to me. Thought sure I would die. Watched 2 of my favorite people die from no being able to breathe. Horrible deads.Cant forget it. Have lung and bones thanks to stage 1 breast, cancer.came back 2011 as stage 4

      @fluteplayer,
      I am an oncology nurse... It sounds like you had a thoracentesis to remove the fluid surrounding your lung in the plural space. If the fluid comes back they will give you a pleurex catheter so that you can drain it yourself and it is really easy to do. Once the fluid stops coming they can't just pull the tube in the office. It is very small and no one would see it. If you are having a problem breathing, you might have atelectasis, fluid that accumulates in the bottom of the lung when you don't take deep breaths. Get into the habit of coughing twice on every commercial when you watch TV to help move that fluid out. Hopefully your doc will help you at your appointment. Best of luck to you.

      Chest tightness and difficulty breathing is one symptom of anxiety. If you have a history of health, or generalized anxiety disorder, this may be a symptom of a flareup.

      Not feeling that you can breathe easily is very scary. I agree that you need to contact your doctor and if you don't get the answers to your questions than switch doctors. You don't owe anyone an explanation, it's your body. You need to take care of it. On another note I am getting the sense that your pastor and family are working against a healthy state of mind. Change pastors and sit your family down and explain that you need support not condemnation. Perhaps your therapist can help you do this. You should not have to fight for understanding during your cancer. I wish you the best. Hopefully you will take charge of your health.

      I second MerPreb's suggestion that you get a second opinion. Does your medical system offer counseling to relatives. If so I suggest your family talk to them.

      Call your doctor about this as soon as possible. Breathing is too serious to only guess what's wrong. Best wishes.

      Out of hospital. Tried to do a surprise surgery on me. After eati g breakfast they sent a grunie for me .no one new about it esp. Me. They were going to put a drain tube without putting me out as I just ate. I refused and was very angry with my new cancer dr.left me come home with lasic which seems to help some . Still short of breathe but surviving. Willing to have it drained again but no drain wide awake.

      Fluteplayer, if you refuse a doctor's treatment in the hospital, how do you expect to get better?

      They are NOT putting draintube in unless I am asleep . Knew, they were, just going to do it wide awake, was very mad at my cancer dr.lung Dr and heart Dr both said I didn't need it. Only drained again but last time it was drained I felt worse as a student done it. and I think he goofed up.he was ready to do the draintube too.

      Just read 2 differant xrays and seen the word atelectasis both reports . Looked it up and said collapsed lung or part of a lung. Now I know, why I felt worse after, the effusion . Spent 4 days in the hospital . Sent home with lasic and feel better. Not 100%but about 50%

      @fluteplayer. Yesterday, I woke up at 3:30 am. Usually when I wake up in the middle of the night I check my prayer list and pray for every one on the list but I felt compelled to pray for only you that night I continue to pray for your health

      Sorry to hear of all your difficulties, fluteplayer. My cancer Dr. missed the water build-up. I saw my PCP. Early heart failure. Cancer Dr. upset that I got the second opinion & that she had missed it after being told that I couldn't climb the stairs w/o feeling light headed. I knew something was wrong. Keep telling your doctors until you find one who will listen. Also, document everything.
