    Cancer Returns

Well after 18 years my cancer has returned. I had such pain in my abdomen and it turned out to be an ulcer. Unfortunately cancer was there also. It is between my stomach and colon. My gastro doctor seems to think it is curable. Once again they are sending me to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. They don't really have the best doctors in south Jersey. In 18 years they still don't have the best...that was where they sent me 18 years ago for my surgery of pancreatic cancer. We will just have to beat this cancer again this time. My best to all of you...Russ

So sorry to hear this. Ask if you can receive your chemo treatments at the Penn Medicine in Cherry Hill. It will save you the stress of having to go into town. They are all in the same family, and I much preferred a smaller office (although the new building is large, but nothing like Abramson) and not having to drive into town for treatments. It greatly reduced my stress and anxiety.

I'm sorry to hear that there's cancer to fight again, Russ. That's never good news to get. The University of Pennsylvania is awesome from everything I hear.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers as you prepare to beat another monster.

Russ, I’m so sorry. I hope that your ulcer was the canary in the mine and called attention to an early pancreatic cancer that would otherwise have lurked painlessly until much later. Sending you good wishes.

Russ I am also very sorry cancer has returned. Perhaps the ulcer pain, as uncomfortable as it was, was a blessing in disguise since the cancer was found and the doctor thinks it is curable. Please keep us updated and wishing you success with any future treatments.

Russ, sorry that you have to buckle up for another ride on this stupid cancer roller coaster. You beat one of the biggest monsters in the cancer closet already, so I'm sure you will do the same with this one.

Thank you very much Greg...yes I plan on beating it yet again for another 18 years as I did in 2000. I meet with the surgeon on Monday 3/25 to discuss what the surgery will entail and wihether I have to go through chemo and radiation...I hope not, but if necessary so be it. After I meet with the surgeon I will post what I know at that time. Thanks again Greg...my best to you, Russ
