How long does the catheter usually have to stay in after removal of the prostate.

Know a friend just went through this and it was about a week for him. Sure it varies with each person though.

Mine stayed in almost 2 weeks but only because the doctor was out of town and it was over the Christmas holiday. Otherwise it would only have been a week. I've talked to some who only had theirs in for a few days so yes it does varie some. I wish you all the best.

Our doctor said 2 weeks but, after surgery said that the uretha reattachment went really well so my husband was able to talk him down to 11 days.... That will be next week.. Hubby used the "birthday card" as it will be his 65th birthday and said it would be the best present to receive!

Mine was 10 very unpleasant days, but what the heck it all worked at the end of the day :-)

Mine was in for 1 week. Actually minimal discomfort. Switched to leg bag for walking and big bag at night. Staying dry all night the first day after removal. Using about two small pads 1.5 months later. It is getting better.
