    chemo port

This is an odd question, but does anyone else with a port have itching? Been about 10 days since it went in, and it itches like crazy! Is it my imagination, or do others have this also?

Topical steroids! They will reduce any inflammation from the incision and probably reduce or eliminate the itching. However, depending on the nerves that were disturbed or severed, you "may" have itching from here on. As with so many things, time will tell.

It might be a good idea to contact your Doctor or his nurse. They may be able to suggest how best
to stop that itch as soon as possible. I can't stand itching! Good luck.

I have also had my port about 10 days, no itching. Is it the infusion that itches? Is it red, hot, inflammed? I would let your dr Jr surgeon know.

I had a bit of itching right after port was put in, but that has subsided. I also had some prickly feeling from the port from the inside, the small nodules rubbing when I moved. My doctors/nurses said I probably felt the port more because of little body fat beneath my skin. I have adjusted to the foreign object and don't notice it as often, now 6 weeks later.

My surgeon told me the itching was from nerves that were growing back and when they reached where they are trying to get to the itching will stop.

After 6 months, I don't get itching so much as a bit of buzzing. I adjust how I'm sitting and it stops. I do think it has to do with nerve endings and muscles rubbing against the port ...

I have had my port since April 2018. Still gets itchy. I list 50 lbs after having port put in so now it can be uncomfortable at times. But if I adjust myself it usually feels better. Good luck
