    Chocolate Fun by Tickling Cancer

There are many types of chocolate. White chocolate, milk chocolate, semisweet chocolate, bittersweet chocolate and unsweetened chocolate. I'm a big fan of white chocolate and milk chocolate myself. You could put that stuff on a shoe and it would taste good!! Are you aware of some of the health benefits of chocolate? Chocolate is FULL of phytochemicals that act as antioxidants. Need to improve your blood vessel function?? Eat Chocolate!! Need to lower your LDL?? Eat Chocolate!! It's even suggested that chocolate may help to prevent some cancers but there is still more research to be done on that one.

MY QUESTION: What's your favorite kind of chocolate??

Chocolate - I like dark 70% - the best. But I'll eat it in almost any form - after all chocolate is in it's own very special food group.

I hate to busrt your bubble CT, but white chocolate is not really chocolate. It is made from cocoa butter, not cocoa beans. And milk chocolate is required to only have 10% cocoa solids, The rest is milk, saturated fat, and sugar. So I'm afraid there is little to no health benefits in your favorite forms of chocolate. While it is true that pure cocoa solids are high in flavonoids and antioxidants, they taste pretty nasty so commercial chocolatiers tend to process the heck out of them and add a lot of butter, sugar, and milk to make it palatable. I'm not knocking chocolate....sometimes just nothing else will do....but it is still basically junk food made mostly of sugar and fat and not much else.

Any excuse to eat it is good enough for me. My favorite kind of chocolate is the chocolate kind.

But if I had to choose, I'd go with dark chocolate.

Now, what do they say about beer?

Ok, I confess. My favorite chocolate is a mocha latte with a double shot of hazelnut syrup.

Well to be honest, it's a little bit tough for me to choose because of the amount of chocolate that is available to me where I live. I'm from Lancaster County PA and we have the unique advantage to be close to 2 of the biggest chocolate companies in the world, Hershey Chocolate and M&M Mars. But not to be outdone we also have Wilbur Chocolate, Wolfgang Chocolate and 3 blocks up the street from my house is a company called Miesse Chocolates. When the wind is blowing just right, you get a great smell of all the candy plus the aroma of licorice from Y&S Candies and cereal from Kellogg's. Where I live, you can get a contact high from the wonderful smell and gain 30 pounds without eating any chocolate. But I think my favorite has to be frozen Reese's Peanut Butter cups dipped in marshmallow fluff or the new caramels dipped in chocolate and sea salt from Miesse Candies. If you come to visit our area, you can eat yourself into a choco-coma. On top of that we have at least 7 potato chip factories in the area too. We love our food in PA Dutch country.

I always loved chocolate. Big time! But when I started chemo, it tasted nasty! I finished chemo in August and still can only tolerate some chocolate sometimes. Most is still awful tasting to me. I find this MOST distressing! How can this be?! Not an answer... but rather a lamentation! I miss my old friend, chocolate!

White chocolate (Nancy’s comments aside) is number one for me followed by dark chocolate. I’m 66 years old and am looking forward to the Easter Bunny (aka my wife) making a delivery in a few weeks.

Well, for me white chocolate may not be real chocolate, but I go with it anyway. My mouth doesn't know if it's real or not, it just knows it likes it.

One radiation related note on chocolate, it burns my mouth since radiation this last time.

I love dark chocolate, but I'm deeply in like with almost any other chocolate, too. Most chocolate tasted funny to me during chemo, but I'm thrilled that it tastes more normal to me now.

Love this topic. Thank you for starting it. To stretch the subject, my current favorite form is the "Salty XXX" from the Big Gay Ice Cream truck in NYC. Soft serve vanilla ice cream infused with carramel, dipped in melted dark chocolat and drizzled with sea salt. Heaven in a sugar cone.

My favorite type of chocolate is: Kahlua chocolate truffles that I make myself. I got a recipe book from Kahlua years ago. I haven't made them recently-my mouth's watering thinking about them, but boy are they good!! They're really rich though. I'm not so sure they'd lower anyone's LDL-they have butter in them, so I'm not sure about blood vessel function either and I cannot say they'll cure cancer but I'm willing to participate in a study...;)
Maybe Kahlua will sponsor the study (I can dream can't I?...;))

      Warm wishes,
