    Dental care during chemo?

I have been on CVP plus Rituxan for a couple of weeks now. I have a cavity and a toothache. Has anyone had their teeth worked on during chemo? I thought I could power through but the pain is growing and fear of infection from the tooth has started to scare me. I emailed my Oncologist and am waiting for a response, was wondering if anyone else has had dental work during chemo? Any suggestions or questions I should be asking Oncologist and dentist?

I had my treatment done before chemo but I was also told to avoid any type of infection because of the immune system....so talk with your doctor immediately....he will probably direct you to a dentist specialized in cancer patients....who will take all necessary extra care in your case to avoid infections and extra problems....talk with your doctor....wishing you all the best....God bless you and continue blessing all of us

Your Oncologist may allow you to delay your chemo, let your blood counts return to near normal and then allow your dental work with time to heal. Then restart your chemo. Check with your doctors

Ask your dentist. He may be able to do something temporarily. The dentist will ask you about medical treatments and he will not do anything that is not safe. I do not know if this applies to dentists working for profitmaking corporations.
