Yo-- I'm here---Trump Dumps-- Yeah- In january, I felt like I was having a nervous break down-I wasn't a nice person to be around. Then Boise wrote that she was off, and she knew it was the Trump Dumps.

You know what? I had a diagnosis, and I began feeling better. I'm grateful for Boise's diagnosis, as I probably would have gone quite insane after I lost my voice FEB 9. Then they gave me steriods to try to bring my voice back. I gained 5 lbs. and had security called on me, other than that, the steriod didn't seem to make any difference

      Thank you.

Why dont we have a cut off of say 100 and the next person who wants to speak opens a new thread called Politics #whatever number it is?

Honestly it feels good to vent and the moments between reading and responding reminds one to think.

      http://www.gregpalast.com/election-stolen-heres/

I had almost forgotten this. Greg Palast is a Pulitzer Prize winning investigative reporter who wound up working for the British Guardian because nobody in news wants to investigate anything any more. He explains how it is that Trump was able to win so handily.

Boise, You do know that Betsey Wetsy DeVoss, our new Sec. of Ed. is from MI, my home state. She is a billionaire (really & truely) and is married to the head of the Amway Corp., the biggest pyramid scam corporation around. They peddle cheap cosmetics & vitamins & the like.

Little Miss Betsey spent her school days in fancy-schmancy very private schools, her kids as well. She never has set foot in a public school, although she did brag about once being a "mentor" in one! She is known in MI as anti-public schools & pro school vouchers for private ones.

Betsey, during her comformation hearing, gave a rather interesting comment that she believed guns in schools were fine & dandy as the kids needed protection from grizzly bears. Sort of a Sara Palinesque comment! (Oh, I miss ole' Sarah these days, but we have so many others to giggle at)
By the way, grizzly bears are not too common in MI, black bears.....yes

Oh yes, I referred to her in my heated discussion as Betsey Wetsy. I am not as nice on FB as I am here. I follow the FOX channel on FB because they have the most accurate weather and they get it to you right away. I dropped this bomb on a discussion about the Oxford comma. I pointed that the lack of use of the Oxford comma was and indication of the decline of education. That lit the fuse for a real bomb.

      Peace has broken out
What are we going to do
      Maybe just enjoy it
      Yeah me and you
      ...

      Now Love has broken out
      Hate seems to have disappeared
      We're in big trouble now
This is what the world feared

      Bankers jumping out of windows
      Fortunes being lost
The Armies of the world went home
      But at what cost

      Defense Department disbanded
We'd need a Department of Peace...
We could all smoke a Doobie
And we wouldn't need the Police

      SO let's all Pray together

@barryboomer, federal funds are a very small part of the financing for Meals on Wheels. I saw an article today that private donations are way up for that program.

My son lives in an RV park in New Mexico. There is a "veteran" (he didn't complete boot camp before getting kicked out) there who does Meals on Wheels. He takes their meals, even while he is in the process of cooking his own dinner. He takes the milk cartons and gives them to another family at the park. The rest of meal is stacked into the park''s refrigerator, until it is full. Then, the meals are thrown away. He never eats them. He just gets them because he is entitled to them...

What a waste. People who DO need and would use them are cheated out of them by this weirdo. (How many others are like him? I certainly do hope he is the only one who abuses the system.)

There are always fraudulent folks that take advantage of the system.(Look at our politicians!) However most people are not like that.
I worked delivering Meals on Wheels & can assure you of that. The degree of poverty in our country is disgusting and sad and totally unforgivable. Some of the things I saw were worthy of a 3rd. world country.
Our so-called president should show more compassion towards the poor in his focus on the budget. But he won't.

I read that the Donald is demanding the Wall is 35 ft high, and is footed 6 feet under ground. Threre are areas in NM, along the border where the sand is deeper than 6 ft. Quite simply- with spring storms-with constant winds that run from 45 mph to 60 mph, day in and day out- the wall would blow over---

The illegitimate, traitorous con man in the White House (except on the weekends) has no ability to care about anyone other than his immediate family (and who knows if he loves even them?). We who aren't fooled by him will dance in the streets when he is gone. And when the whole fkg rest of them are, too. I CAN'T WAIT until they all sleep with the fishes.

Carool I see little evidence of Trump's love for his immediate family, He has completely blow-off one daughter. He publicly treats Melena like he doesn't even know she is there. When we see pictures of him at Mar a Lago we never see him playing with Barron (who in their right mind would name his son Barron) His family are trophies when they are no longer of use to him he discards them. I do not wish anyone would sleep with the fishes. But I do wish the some of them would be routed to proper mental programs and others would given board and room in lesser government facilities that the White House (if you get my drift.)

Barron is better than some names---Like Fruit Stand. One my kids' teacher taught at a mostly rural and hippie school. They told the parents to write the child's name on one side- and where they got off the bus on the other side.

Fruit Stand showed up, and seemed hearing impaired and stupid. The kindergarten teachers had to go over and lead him everywhere, or get ready for nap or coloring.

At the end of the day, they turned his tag over to find his bus stop-- It had a normal name like Mike. They had him get off at the fruit stand, and they changed their records to the normal name.
I've been with kids named Genesis, Heavenly flower, Humming Bird, Lord, Count, Princess, Major, Empress, King, Queenie, and their dogs are usually named Sid or Mack

And clean air and water would also be helpful. These issues are political rhetoric and I for one need them in my "stuff" if I am going to be a survivor. I certainly fear that I for one may NOT survive. If healthcare, cancer research. and environmental protections are not your concern in regard to your survival then just skip this question No one is forcing you to read this. But some of us very definitely need to read this. I know I very desperately need to know the answers to these questions

Patricia----There are hundreds of questions that don't have anything about politics---people are asking about radiation, radiation burns, how to prepare for radiation. We have one dear breast cancer member where her chemo seems to be killing her, and she says that she can't take it anymore; we are telling her to see another oncologist, take somebody with her and speak plainly to him. We have a 1,000 questions about breast cancer. We have questions of we knew we had cancer on our own. People ask about sex, sleeping, how to eat with mouth and throat radiation.

People come here for a short time when somebody is dying; several years ago a sweet and kind woman from California found out her father was dying from lung cancer in Washington. Her parents hid it from her. It was horrible, and she wrote us several times a day. She had to deal with her father--her elderly mother wanted her to move to Washington, but she would lose her job. Her parents refused to move downstairs or get hired help. Then we didn't hear from her. Several months later she came back. Her father died. She put the house up for sale. She also got a larger apartment and moved her mother in with her. She thanked us for advice-some which stopped her from spending money unnecessarily. She thanked us for somebody always answering her immediatley and with kindness. She thanked us for our good vibes from the non-religious and prayers from the religious Whatnexters. I still think of her, and her mother.

Meanwhile, we are humans that are more than cancer. We have minds that think. We have our fears and hopes. You say that you get this in your stuff- I guess you mean-Wall- well don't read anything that bothers you or don't like or comment, and you won't have it on your wall.

From the Washington Post---At the Pentagon, they’re privately calling the former Marine officer and fighter pilot who’s supposed to keep his eye on Defense Secretary Jim Mattis “the commissar,” according to a high-ranking defense official with knowledge of the situation. It’s a reference to Soviet-era Communist Party officials who were assigned to military units to ensure their commanders remained loyal.

EPA also has a Trump appointed monitor that seems to be trying to run the EPA-according to the WaPo https://www.washingtonpost.com/powerpost/white-house-installs-political-aides-at-cabinet-agencies-to-be-trumps-eyes-and-ears/2017/03/19/68419f0e-08da-11e7-93dc-00f9bdd74ed1_s

Most members of President Trump’s Cabinet do not yet have leadership teams in place or even nominees for top deputies. But they do have an influential coterie of senior aides installed by the White House who are charged — above all — with monitoring the secretaries’ loyalty, according to eight officials in and outside the administration. says the WaPo No wonder Trump believes Obama has a shadow government.

Well, he was in Mira Lago again. I did not see Air Force One all by itself at the end of a runway so I thought maybe he had already left. But nooooooo. On the way back from my raw & living pot luck gathering I saw the plane 'hidden' in the midst of another dozen or so other private planes.

He is trying to get it called the Southern White House but his club isnt entitled to such cachet. Camp David is government owned as a part of a military installation.l. When Trump turns Mira Lago over to the Feds and stops pocketing membership fees I might consider thinking of it differently.

I hope Palm Beach County and NYC consider not volunteering manpower and resources for the protection of the Trumpeteers. I heard the "kids" are in Aspen celebrating the 400 million dollar plus Chinese trade where the Chinese get 2 floors of luxury apartments to enjoy when their fast tracked visas come thru and Ivanka's hubby and Daddy get out of a billion plus dollar mortgage for only 200 or so million. The Chinese are picking up the rest. Gratitude.

Livewith if it bothers you that someone is cheating, report them but dont spread rumors if you dont know they are true.

I picked a bad time to start a book called "White Trash" which seems to be a history of classism in the USA. I read about a company in the 1800s which sold pretty dresses colored green by arsenic. Lots of people died. The company thrived.

I must have been born in a bubble to think I was entitled to anything or born with any rights at all.

I was on the horn with a friend who was walking in St. Louis when ambulances came by so loudly we had to stop our conversation two or three times. Mr. Berry was working on a new album at the time of his death.

There are things that show up as questions or in my feed (because I follow someone participating in a conversation) that have no relevance to me. I just skip that particular thread and go one to something that does interest me. No harm, no foul. There are some people I'm not fond of. I do the same thing. Again -- no harm, no foul.

Today's politics do affect as, as both cancer survivors and as human beings. Usually my charitable donations end up going to my favorite cat shelter. In November, I donated to both Planned Parenthood and the ACLU. I'm kinda proud to be a card carrying member of the ACLU. And just listening to some of the people at the townhalls w/their reps. The lady who yelled at her guy that if not for ACA (ie Obamacare), her husband would have died from his cancer. These things are heart breaking. And highly relevant to the lives of at least some of our fellow WhatNexters. Not to be mean, but if you don't like the conversation, please go on to the next thread.

And for those of us unhappy with the way things are: we need to vote. I know there is an election in Georgia coming up soon for a House spot, to fill a vacancy left when someone ended up in the cabinet (sorry for being vague; I'm not sure exactly when and where and what....). Some states have their state officials elected in the "off years", so that will be coming up. Ohio, we are kinda stuck until 2018, which is when our major state offices are up for election. Be a part, however you can. I wish I could have gone to some of the marches, but physically I just can't. But I read, and stay informed, and even if I usually don't gush on here, I am a proud bleeding heart liberal. Whose heart still hurts over how things went. And one of my new heroes is Rachel Maddow...

This is for a Pennsylvania state legislature The Democrats are trying to win by a write-in campaign

      [email redacted]
HAPPENING NOW: Democrats Get Out the Vote for Tuesday's Special Election in Pennsylvania

RIGHT NOW: Hundreds of volunteers are swarming the streets, fighting to elect progressive Democrat Emilio Vasquez to the Pennsylvania House in Tuesday's special election.

This is a Democratic-leaning district, but Republicans are trying to steal it after they convinced a GOP judge to keep Emilio off the ballot. If Republicans gain another vote in the state House, they could move aggressively to attack unions, defund Planned Parenthood, and pave the way for Trump’s health care repeal.

This is the election to fill the seat of someone that's in Trump's administration. The 2 elections get crossed.

I have to admit something to all of you...I was in the middle of this email about to tell all of you this was not the place to discuss politics. I was going to make a comment about something one of you wrote, and I scrolled up to see who that person was, and on my way up I stopped to read some of the other comments people wrote regarding politics. I was so impressed with the dedication, commitment, and the comments written here by EJourneys, Buckeye Shelby, geekling, and meyati...that I decided I would change my original comments to the following: Good for you...all of you go ahead with your comments about politics. EJourneys listed some websites, and I am impressed with her commitment as well as others. I am frequently in touch with the Congressman in my district, and we don't always agree, but at least I "always" get a response from him. What we are doing or not doing for our veterans is a crime! I myself am a veteran of the Vietnam era, (I'm 72). Recently I was having a problem with the cost of insulin from my local pharmacy so I called my Congressman's local office for assistance. He returned my call, from Washington no less, and told me he recently hired an assistant to handle issues that veterans were having, and that he would have him call me. The call came, and my problem was solved. The point is call your local politicians whether you voted for them or not. Awhile back I called his office again with regard to a local veteran who had committed suicide. This guy was suffering from PTSD and called to make an appointment to see a psychiatrist. They told him the earliest he could get in was 6 months from now because the local VA clinic only had one psychiatrist. A couple of days later he went to the VA clinic, and in the parking lot he doused himself with gasoline and lit himself on fire. After I had made the call to my Congressman he told me that he, and his veteran assistant were already on top of it. About 4-6 months later he called me and told me that this clinic now has 3 psychiatrists. But it took another veteran committing suicide to generate change. Change that should have already been in place. My best to all of you...Russ

Russ thank-you for your insights. I try to keep political remarks health and mostly cancer orientated. Even though I am now battling more serious health issues than cancer now. Because my cancer was environmentally caused. I often get off on environmental rants. Also cuts in healthcare will affect my family. My son couldn't get health care under Obamacare now will never be able to get healthcare. And a general depression has come over me. I do not sleep at night because I worry. I have a whole lot of other political issues which I save for Facebook; increased Military spending, education, and the WALL to name a few. I prefer to discuss on Facebook because I am not so restrained there.

Hey Russ, would you be interested in signing some petitions by veteran associations? I belong to several vet associations that have members of both political parties, and supports vet politicians of both parties.

If so, go to IAVA.org---IraqAfghanistanVet.organization That's the group that put on the .Ccommander's Debate between Hillary and Trump. They are supporting Medicare and Social Security benefits, because so many disabled vets use these programs. The current petition is a statement that they are independent, and won't be used by politicians. Vets are supposed to receive an increase in benefits, which they are concerned would make them seem to be supporting the current administration.

My son is a 100% disabled vet-injured at sea. His VA is a regional center, and they do have the psycharitrists. Even with that, he had a friend commit suicide in the parking lot. She met with a medical school resident at the VA. She was a pleasant looking woman, and she told him that she wanted to be admitted, as she was highly suicidal. He told her no way, and told her to go home and cook. She went to her car, wrote that she would prove that she was suicidal, and she blew her brains out. That was in the '90s. The VA banned weapons, and started riding the interns hard.

You might be interested in following Jason Kandar, a young Democrat vet, in Missouri. He served in the sand box. He's trying to publicise harmful things to our voting rights, and practices. He was the state attorney general, and ran for senator. He was targeted, and the Republicans spent millions in different PACS to defeat him.

I've got to go--Bless you for every phone call you make, as that helps other vets of all ages. I know that you are more than a vet-you are an American, and you are much more than a cancer patient, so I know that you work on issues other than your personal ones.

I thought that people joined Congress for power and money as 'side effects' of becoming public servants. It looks as though Trump wants to use his Trump card and lord over Congress by threatening them if they dont vote for his crappy stay sick plan. He is trying to assure the 535 that he will run a candidate against them and in all other ways withdraw support and sabotage their re-election.

I did get one pop up that asked me if I wante to block latest TRUMP TWEETS. I clicked on YES-- but then it seemed to freeze my phone up. Yes and Melena has business interests she has not put into a blind trust. I wouldn't mind Ivanka having a little office in the family wing, if she is assuming the duties of First Lady. I believe that the there is one that is the First Ladies Office with a secretary in the family area. Melena seems to not want to assume those duties. But absolutely not an office in the working office of the President !!! No I do NOT like that

It's not that her office is in the working section, but Ivanka and Donald insisted that her office be directly above his office. She probably took a drill, and drilled a hole, put in a microphone and recorder-so he could say-- I never talked to her about it. We should demand the FBI do a security sweep of both of their offices.

Russ I don't see how this us not discussing politics takes away from others who want to discuss other issues. I agree there are some more important issues that would be appropriate to this discussion. Such as while I am typing the healthcare act is being discussed in congress. And the budget has drastic cuts in agencies that protect our health. Also if we were busy discussing politics elsewhere I don't think we would even venture over to WhatNext. Russ is that what you expect us to do? I for one have participated today in four non-political questions, one wall post, and three media posts. This administration is going to impact our country in a big way. And to quote my son "people will die" And I really fear that some here on What Next will be among them.

The EPA under Obama ruined the water in CO. NM, the Navajo Reservation, and Utah with the King mine disaster. The water couldn't even be used for alfalfa, corn, and other crops. It really hurt lots of families.and businesses. Some of the best trout fishing in the world was ruined. It cost millions to just haul water to small villages and their livestock.

We also like to hear from all sides of the political spectrum, even though we might not agree with some, we are open-minded, that's what America is about & that is the way we want it to remain. American should not cave in to a dictorial type of government.

The we have 100s of questions about fatigue, traveling, 2nd opinions, diet, exercise, the best exercise for a certain type of cancer, yoga, finding support groups, not liking the support group or not finding the correct support groups, many questions about a 100 plus treatments for cancer, side effects for all of these treatments, radiation expectations and problems. Doctor availibilty, clinical trials, how to get into paid surveys, what different surveys are like, the value of prayer, the value of a hobby, our cats, dogs, what we miss, does it get any better, treatment overseas, insomnia, rating the different types of scans, how often we see our doctors, how much we pay, if we have been insulted at an oncology clinic, ER visits, does anybody still drive, how we told our family, how our family tok it. Did you get a skin rash and from what, how to eat when you don't feel like eating, how do you eat without teeth or a jaw, How do you eat when the throat and mouth is burnt from radiation, the doctor shortage, what does your plan cover, putting ports in, keeping ports clean, bladder and eye infections, pain control, massages, Christmas, Thanksgiving, is house cleaning availiable through the ACS,

TrumpCare not going through will help so many young veterans, because they often depend on ObamaCare before all of the paperwork can be finished for VA care and even Social Security disability. There certainly are vets that don't have service disconnected disabilities.

I know that we had to support my son and his family for about a year before the paperwork was approved by the Veteran's Commission-and it wasn't the NM VC. My DIL joined the Air Force to provide for her family better-get AF dependents' medical care. Her commanding officer found how screwed up the paper work was, that he went to JAG. JAG found a way to present my son's case to the Maryland Veteran's Commission that filled out the paperwork for my son.

Then after 9-11, news articles about homeless disabled vets waiting to be approved for disability pay. That poor wheel chair bound vet in Dallas that was raped in a homeless shelter.

I don't feel that I'm so political as cause oriented about vets, kids, voting, and the environment. I told Carool and Gonewest a while back that my husband was past 21 before he could vote. He was restricted from voting while overseas, because he was in the military. It took Johnson's voting act to allow military personnel to vote, unless they were posted in their home state.

Cosmopolitan is not a publication I generally reference, but they have a good article on the Ivanka/WH travesty:
      http://www.cosmopolitan.com/politics/a9161907/ivanka-trump-white-house-office-insult/

At 3 this morning I left a voicemail on my Congressman's machine (his DC VM was full, so I left it at a district office), because I wanted to call before their procedural vote at 8. That marked my fifth call to him about the health bill. He'd been undecided, but he's also a TЯump patsy and a career politician (one of his form letters to me still mistakenly talks about it being his honor to serve the district he USED to represent and not the one he represents NOW. Talk about lazy AF). Glad to see that the bill's been pulled.

Unfortunately, the Senate just passed a rollback of Internet privacy laws. I called to thank the Senator of mine who voted against the rollback. My other Senator was a cosponsor (I had called earlier urging him to remove his support). That bill now goes to the House, so that's another call on my To Do list. The rollback lets ISPs and cable providers track your browsing activities and sell your info to whomever they choose. More on that:

It's bad when COSMO and Claire Marie come out with articles alerting their readers to ethical issues in the federal government. --

Marie Claire blew the lid off of Ensign Cargo in Maryland making all of those horrible land mines in Cambodia. I'd drive to Albuquerque, and pass lots of Ensign Cargo big rigs filled with hundreds of mines. I wondered what they were shipping. I thought America actually was manufactorering something of value. Then I read Marie Claire. Then the media started pushing Princess Diana's cause-- The death and destruction of land mines.

I applaud Cosmoplitian for addressing the issue of Ivanka in the White House. This is one reason why we should be able to talk on the political question.
It's not like somebody says on Whatnext, is there anything I can do to keep losing my teeth from radiation?, and somebody, anybody at all blames it on one of our political parties or a politician. No, we say--talk to your doctor; there are at home flouride treatments to help your teeth; drink milk and take calcium supplements. Good luck and hugs.

Filling positions with buffoon bilionaires, no tax returns, Trump Tower and Mar A Lago security and astronimocal costs, trying to raid Social Security funds, deny the climate, privitize schools, VA, Social Security, Ivanka at high security meetings where she seems to be striking trade with Japan and other countries, Obama spying, Russian loans, good friends with Putin, the Brits wire tapping ,Trump, blaming others. The cutting the budget by defunding the State Department, defunding the one agency that oversaw the integrity of electronic voting machines, Honestly-Attacking Chelsea Clinton-really that just started, healthcare- saying the states will pick up the Medicaid costs-and nobody seems to havepicked up on that, still chomping and arguing about the size of the inaugeration crowd, defunding the EPA, KEYSTONE, nobody is Responding to NO AMERICAN STEEL in KEYSTONE, immigration, the Wall, immigration,

Now we have a president with a staff and family that are different-- They just accuse everyone else for being failures, bully, threaten-Our great president was found guilty in Canada,

I hope that we can make a law that the first lady has to live in the White House, that a presidential candidate has to show his taxes or not be 0on the ballot-like NJ is doing, that we put an ankle bracelet on the president and his family so they have to stay at the White House.

How could I forget that Wall Street and the bankers are being unchained, and turned loose on us-- don't forget the insurance industry,

Meyati did you mean that you would accept one conviction for fraud in a presidential. I believe that a conviction of fraud would bar a person from being a bank teller. By the by Trump list those bankruptcies as brilliant business deals. He did make money off them.

    • meyati's Avatar

Fraud conviction--- bankruptcies are only supposed to be awarded to people that have less collateral than debts. The IRS tax code has been amended, where a person has to pay taxes on write-offs--where a company says-- Oh, OK now. We won't contest it or whatever---so you owe $100,000, and they forgive a $100,000, so now IRS says-- Add that $100,000 to your income and pay the taxes for the total amount.

I don't know about companies and billionaires, but somehow, that law should apply to them just the same as to a carpenter or a school teacher.

When I declared bankruptcy, you only had to declare forgiven monies, if the creditor claimed the write -off by notifying IRS or the state. Most creditors didn't do that, and they notified IRS for sure.

I was frustrated last week, because for every tax thing where a person used to have undeclared money, i had to click-No, and then enter $0 to show that I read it. It makes me glad that I have low-income SS, and $500 Navy pension. Solves lots of problems. I did pay a little over $3,000 interest on student loans.

People my age aren't supposed to have student loans, but America is changing-so many 50 year olds being told to educate for the modern world jobs. Food stamps, MediCare prescription aid, lots of programs will deduct mortgages stock loss, etc from your income to qualify you for meals on Wheels, prescription help, etc. But they will not allow any deduction for student loan interest. And Trump is removing what protections that Obama gave us, and he's talking about 16% interest...
I need to clean the back yard and dig out some weeds.

California is developing a coalition of states that use Republican states' right to enforce environmental measures.

Remember, in the 1960s, California started emission control laws. Trump might roll back federal emission controls, but automakers can't sell vehicles that don't meet a state's emission controls. With manufactoring, it's cheaper to build one thing than have lots of different things.

Of course, it took the feds to find and prosecute BMW and Volkswagen when they cheated on emissions.

Coal---That has already been redacted by Trump---Guess what? It doesn't make any difference in New Mexico, because of state regulations, consumers and stock holders that want cleaner air, and the electric companies have already invested too much money to go back to coal.

I just worry so much about federal lands

We did get into a tiff with the governor about some bills, and she scolded the legislature- known as "The Round House", because it's ROUND. So the whole legislature spent a day debating what the NM State Dance should be. because Buddy Holly, the Fireballs, Rosie, Waylon Jennings, Holly's "Peggy Sue" was recorded here in July 1957. Bobby Fuller and Roy Orbison all recorded in New Mexico----so they spent a day arguing about which Rock dance, the Mexican Wedding Dance-there are 2, the Macarena, ballet, a fandango, Flamenco almost won over the twist. This is New Mexico.

Trump EPA Rejects Pesticide Ban, Threatening Kids' Health
      March 29, 2017 Miriam Rotkin-Ellman Jennifer Sass
Toxic pesticide residues on food will remain a threat to children’s health as a result of the Trump administration’s rejection of the proposed ban on chlorpyrifos—a pesticide linked to increased risk of learning disabilities and behavioral problems. This is yet another example of EPA Administrator Pruitt’s willingness to go against the expertise of the Agency's own staff and sacrifice children’s health for industry profits. https://www.nrdc.org/experts/miriam-rotkin-ellman/trump-epa-rejects-pesticide-ban-threatening-kids-health

Thanks for the link E. Journeys but good luck with that. Like this administration is going to listen to anything "we the people" have to say. The EPA is now headed by a person who has actually sued the agency. And it is one of the agencies Trump has vowed to destroy. To quote my son people will die.

Before the clock strikes midnight on tonight's critical Democratic fundraising deadline, you NEED to see this report out of Georgia about their upcoming special elections for Congress and state Senate:
“The anxiety level is increasing, and it’s creeping higher every day,” said Todd Rehm, a Republican consultant in the state. “This race could be a perfect storm of higher than average Democratic turnout and below average Republican turnout. The early vote totals are chilling.” –Politico, yesterday
What are those numbers? The New York Times reports that Republican early-vote turnout is down 50% compared to the last midterm election. Democratic turnout has DOUBLED!!!

It'll be so encouraging if Ossoff wins! I confess that I've done nothing but run my mouth and sign hundreds of online petitions (that probably do little or no good). I've donated to John Lewis and Planned Parenthood (that one in Pence's name, as suggested by some genius who got people to have PP flood Pence with thank-you letters from an organization he wants to destroy), I will send a donation to help veterans and I'll join the ACU, but I'm annoyed by the tons of donation requests emailed by every liberal organization. If I need rent money, for example, they won't help me. My ZIP code is a very liberal and wealthy one, so maybe that's why I'm besieged - or probably everyone who is tagged through computers as being a liberal gets these.

Well, Carool, my zip code is the opposite of yours. It used to be called "The War Zone", because so many hookers, drug dealers, cop killers, gang bangers, and illegal immigrants that don't have anywhere else to go.

You give $5, and you're slammed. I even get begging from the Republicans. I read a few right wing to try to get a feel of what was going on over a year ago.

I've been donating very small amouns to my New Mexican Congressmen. I mean small amounts.

I donated 10 to Ossoff in GA. My 2 Congressmen-there are 3, but one is planning on bailing the House of representatives to run for NM governor. personally, I don't blame her, but as an American sort of Liberal-we can't afford to lose another Democrat in the House of Representatives. How can New Mexico be sure that a Democrat with a strong back will win Lujan's seat? Any way-I sent a few bucks to 3 vet organizations, Some to a former senator that was narrowly beaten by Rubio-while being shunned by the DNC--Debbie doesn't like him personally according to the Tampa and Miami newspapers. he's trying to position himself somehow---He keeps sending me lists of upcoming-

Meyati, I had a feeling it wasn't just that my ZIP signals "big bucks." I live in it only because I moved in 44 years ago and snagged a rent-stabilized apartment. I should do what you and others do: donate small amounts (money used better than what I DO spend money on: cookies, for instance).

I just didn't want you to feel like a lone victim. I do like my progressive Congressmen and the young vets that expect to live in a equitable and kind America, and they are demanding this from the government.

Nevertheless, all of them should be registered with the government as certified beggers, pests, annoyers, nuisances, and the certified the plague. But God bless them, and we need them, our freedom needs them. It's the same with causes.

I really didn't think that i'd feel that I would need to sign petitions every day after the election. I thought that it would go back to normal-whatever that is. I thought that I'd go back to donating $20 a year to each NM congressman. That I'd be back to adopting a bat and sea turtle hatchling for the year, but like Boise-I feel a need to support righteous politicians. I got an Email that Senator Heinrich is under attack in DC. He's in the Intelligence committee. this wasn't from him, but one of the vet groups. It also suggested to donate directly to Heinrich. Heinrich isn't a vet-but Mon. I received a simple request for even $5 from Heinrich. Heinrich spent the first 2 years of his first term, sleeping in his office, and eating raimen. One of his staffers told a New Mexican that visited DC.

I don't want to live in a world without bees, bats, butterflies, sea turtles on the Florida beaches-I've never seen any in Florida-but I want them there. I still want wild elk and deer in more thn my memories- I want children that are born a 100 years from now to see them and the wild mountain trout.

@Carool, I have a separate email address for political stuff and it gets bombarded with requests for money -- including from Heidi Heitkamp, a Democrat who plans to vote in favor of Gorsuch. So I sent her a reply and then tweeted an image of the exchange (the link is below).

I then got a second (automated, no doubt) email from her asking for money again. I haven't tweeted the screen cap of that and my reply yet, but I wrote the following back to her:

In case you haven't seen these petitions, they call on the DSCC to defund Democrats -- of which you are one -- who support Gorsuch. I have signed them both:
      https://act.credoaction.com/sign/DSCC_Gorsuch/
      https://act.demandprogress.org/sign/dscc-gorsuch-funds/

As I wrote in reply to your last email asking me for money -- which, by the way, I have contributed to other Democratic candidates across the country -- withdraw your support from Gorsuch and then maybe we'll talk. In case you had missed my earlier reply, I include a screen grab of it here:
      https://twitter.com/Elissa_Malcohn/status/847623082499899392

You write that right-wing groups have begun running ads against you. But the man you support for the Supreme Court has been praised by right wing groups Focus on the Family, the National Organization for Marriage, and the Family Research Council (http://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/religious-right-praises-gorsuch-as-key-to-its-policy-goals/). That is but one reason why I seriously call your support of Gorsuch into question.

You are not only a target of the GOP. Supporting Gorsuch makes you a target of potential Democratic contenders in next year's primary. You may have noticed that more and more people are throwing their hats into their respective rings these days.

You write of a GOP grip on the Senate, but bear in mind that a Senate term is six years, while a Supreme Court justice serves for life. Do the math. Then rethink your priorities.

Ejourneys, thank you! Very informative. I, too, get donor requests from Heitkamp. I had no idea she supports Gorsuch. I'm so naïve: I think that if a rep is a Democrat, she or he is automatically liberal in all ways and, in this instance, would fight Gorsuch's becoming a Supreme Court Justice. Now I know - and I know that before assuming anything, I should do some research.

I don't have that issue of how my progressive senators will vote--I think saying 'my progressive senators' describes my happy position in NM.

The progressive Representative, decided to leave the House and run for NM governor. Last night I got an email from the state progressive Dems that she's not raising the required money to meet state funding requirements to run for governor. I am not donating a red cent to her, as long as she wants to quit being a congress woman. It looks as though others feel the same way, because she never had any trouble raising money before. 4 years to get this nation on track- and not have Pence breaking tie votes- priceless

Here we are, sweating bullets about Ossoff in GA. and anything to stop the Republican steam roller in Congress and DC. and this chick-wants to be a governor? I told her before- not a red cent from me at this time. There isn't any gaurantee that she will be replaced by an adequate politician. Things like this and Heide Heilkamp are one reason the Dems lost so much last November. I kept getting replies that dems didn't need to worry or focus on the US Congress, that it was all on Hillary---look how that worked out?

Why spend your energy against Heidi Heitkamp's vote when Gorsuch is a moderate, Trump won't ever nominate a liberal, and they already have enough votes to approve Gorsuch anyway? (You know they can change the vote needed from 60 to 50, and they've said they will.)

The extreme no-compromise actions right now are not working well for the country, What's the point anyway?

The idea was to let the States decide but the State governments have become to unweildy and partisan just like POTUS/SCOTUS/COTUS. Im not really sure is Congress is called COTUS but, lol, it sounds enough like coitus to ring my bell on a day like this.
