Did you do radiation in the AM before going to work OR at the end of the day? Did anyone get tired right after radiation where a nap helped?

I will be starting (33 rounds) of radiation the end of Sept. I'm contemplating whether I want to do it in the morning and try to go to work after OR go to work in the mornings and leave mid afternoon for radiation. I'm tyring to anticipate what fatigue will be like toward the end? Did anyone else get tired right after radiation where a nap helped?

I have had 12 treatments of radiation so far. Every morning at 9:30am and for some reason I get a burst of energy to about 3 hours. I guess everyone is different. I am also on Temador ( oral chemo ) 160mm every night.

Your schedule of when you have the treatments will most likely be determined by what slots they have available. Morning slots are usually in high demand. as you have more treatments done, and get a little "seniority" built up, others will be completing their treatment while you are just getting started, morning slots will come available. Just tell the treatment center what slot you would like to have, they usually are good to try to work you in. But, of course they can't treat everyone at 9AM. You don't get tired from the treatment, immediatley, it's more of a build up thing. After a couple, maybe three weeks you will start to get tired. I got droopy at around 2 or 3 each day. I went home early and had a nap. Goooooodddd nappp!
Best of luck to you, I hope they are smooth and quick.

I needed an early morning slot (because of the logistics of getting to work which was 2 hours from my cancer treatment center) and my cancer center was very kind to to work with me on this. I didn't feel particularly tired immediately after a radiation treatment, the tiredness accumulated gradually over time and at the end I was tired most of the time. Wishing all goes well with you.

Try one week of morning radiation then note when you start to get tired. Try one week of afternoon radiation then note when you get tired. Give this information to your supervisor. Try to work in the mornings, then get the treatment. Have someone with you in case you are too tired or weak to drive home.

I also did 33 rounds of radiation after I completed chemo. It was a cake walk compared to chemo! I felt fine, except for a burn at the end. I wasn't bouncing off the walls with energy, but I really was just fine to get through my day. We are all different though. If the schedule you choose isn't working for you, they will try to work with you. Best of luck to you!

I did 30 radiation sessions. Mine were midday. I didn't have a problem while I was at work. However, during the last few weeks of radiation, I was pretty wiped out. I would go home and nap every day after work. That being said, I had friends who went through it and continued running and working out like it was nothing. Sending prayers your way!

Hi- I have 4 boost tx's left out of 34 rounds. I live in Fl, it's rainy season and work 36 miles from home so I chose mornings. It was good to get it done with everyday and not have to worry.I also have to say it was a cakewalk compared to chemo! I also have to say I'm not tired, I felt tired for a few days in the beginning but it went away.My days are normal for me.So you might not feel that bad. I also did not burn at all-I have medium skin, burn at the beach then tan.I ordered this online at a breast cancer website-Breast Cancer DIY.It's called Marion's Magic Blanket.Didn't know if it was just hype or not figured worst would be out the money.I wore it several hrs everyday and I do believe it made a diff since my skin isn't even pink. There was a change in color but only a brownish shade. Hope this helps..

I had 45 rounds at 8 am every morning before work. Only got tired in the last two weeks. Wasn't too bad. Was a lot better than chemist.

      Hi KFH:
I am a breast cancer survior of 3 years. I went for radiation after work I would leave around 3 for 6 weeks. It does not really hit you till the end. Towards the end I really started to get tired and friend would take me and then my husband would pick me up. This is normal and it will go away in time. Love Tania from Miami, Florida
