Did you happen to see the story on CBS 60 Minutes about generic drug companies fixing drug prices?

One common drug that has been around for years was raised over 8,000 percent in cost. Yes....8,000 percent. This is fraud, at the minimum, and I'm sure several of the charges that the State's attorney has compiled will be extensive. All we want to do is live, without going bankrupt, while they are sticking it to us and acting like they have compassion for us.

Greg do you have any links to the program? I am totally interested in med prices. I have recently been prescribed a blood thinner that cost $325 for 40 days . My PCP says that given my history of blood clots this may be a medication for life. I feel that given the cost I could afford about 3 years of life.

Yes, I watched it. Hopefully the investigation into this will put those responsible in jail! The conspiracy was so blatant that they didn’t even try very hard to cover their tracks! It is criminal for people to have to choose to buy food or the meds that could save your life!! I hope this will be rectified soon and will get the prices down to a reasonable level for all of us.

Greg - Thanks for the link. Have been in the hospital since this past Tuesday and, quite honestly, have hardly turned the tv on in the room. My daughter brought my computer down this evening. I'm so glad I logged on to our group and found your post. We've all been fighting this for years and I now feel somewhat hopeful that this over-charging will be going through some big changes very soon. 60 minutes has always been one of my favorites. Thanks again.

andreacha, I’m sorry, too, and wish you a fast recovery.

I saw most of the program. Disgusting, hurtful people. And I was also shocked at how careless they were, to use text to communicate. Obviously, they haven’t been watching true-crime shows or shows about the Mob, or they’d know to never put anything in writing! But I’m glad they weren’t savvy enough to better hide their communications.

LWC & Carool, Thanks so much for your good wishes. Had transfusion finally yesterday. It brought me from 7 to 9.1 this morning. Just got 40 mg of Lasix IV so we all know where I'll be for the next few hours! Hopefully, home tomorrow. Thanks again.

Thank you for the link I watched it twice. Needless to say I am livid. My son and I actually discussed going to Canada to get my prescription; my son said it would be illegal to do that .
I just got a call from the Pharmaceutical Care department I do have an appointment with them to see about getting either another medication. I suggested that the department should hire a lawyer to find out if there are any suits against these medications.

I watched it too and to think I used to defend the drug companies when people would say things like they have a cure but won't let it out because they wouldn't make money off a cure. Now I wonder. I don't think that's the case because they could sell a cure for whatever they wanted. But this is something that needs to have something done about it.

I saw that too, I have been on the side of pharmacists up until now. Now I say go after the pharma companies.

Well, I still get angry at people who say that “there’s a cure for cancer but the pharmaceutical firms won’t release it.” That statement is so ignorant and conspiracy-minded (to begin with, there’s no one cancer). However, some of the pharmaceutical companies, or some divisions of them, are inhumane and headed by people who lack empathy or ability to feel guilt. I hope they lose every lawsuit.

The thing that makes me angry is that what you pay for medications doesn't go to the dedicted researchers but to the CEOs
