    Diet for a cancer patient

I have Hepatocellular caricnoma. The liver is good but I have it in my lungs now. Has anybody done any research on what kinds of foods I should or should not be eating? Fruits and veggies are a given.

Hello. Here is some general information on nutrition during cancer treatment from tne National Cancer Institute
      http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/coping/eatinghints
      http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/supportivecare/nutrition/Patient

and from the American Cancer Society
      http://www.cancer.org/Treatment/SurvivorshipDuringandAfterTreatment/NutritionforPeoplewithCancer/index

If you try contacting the American Cancer Society, they may even have a nutritionist that can help.

Unofficial rule number 1, I think, is eat what you enjoy eating at least some of the time. Life is short. You deserve to enjoy your food. I think you have earned it.

      Hi GailRose,

I would check out BeatCancer.org's website. They have a lot of really good information on diet and nutrition for people dealing with cancer. Good luck!

I have brain cancer and a friend told me about the book: Anti-Cancer, A New Way of Life by David Servan-Schribner.....it changed my life and I had always eaten healthy before. But this book describes so much about cancer and not only the nurtition we need and why but also the other things in our life that we can change or add. I love this book.

If you haven't done so, find a naturopath (ND), They will help you. My wife has Acute Leukemia and they have been a God-send. The one we use is in Boulder, Colorado.

Gerson Institute a good start, books, DVD's on Amazon. Dr. Fuhrman's Eating Like a Nutritarian. He has an excellent web site. If you want to juice I find my Omega single auger juicer is a practical work horse. I love Dr Amen's hypnotism CD's, calms me, puts me to sleep. Just got Elana Rosenbaum's CD A Healing Meditation for Cancer Patients. Very calming. Write me anytime, we are in this together. Lindy
