    Disability

How many of you with head and neck are on disability? Anybody have any experience with long term disability insurance claims?

@BuckeyeShelby works for an insurance company, but I'm not sure of her knowledge about the claims process for disability. We have people on both sides of this on the site. Some have gotten it approved, others not. There are a lot of variables and it takes a long time, is what I have seen. I hope you get through. Someone else with some real experience will have some information that is more helpful than me.

Nope, I used to do workers' comp, but the company I work for now just does medical claims w/a smattering of dental & vision. Sorry, I really don't know much about disability, and only short term because I was on it briefly. Good luck.

I've been through it and have it. My lawyer took a % of my payout that was reasonable.
SSDI didn't take my claim seriously until I had been rejected and was going to hearing. They like to reject everything except the most blatant stuff.
The lawyer helped s lot. I recommend getting one. Also I was told that when I hit stage 4 status with my cancer they would quit fighting me.
This turned out to be true When I was a IV during my periodic reinvestigation. They didn't mess with me at all at that point, just reapproved my claim.

I'd like to hear more. I am presently employed. Probably shouldn't have went back to work, but I did. Need the insurance. However I can't swallow, am on a permanent PEG tube. I can barely talk & most people can't understand me. And I have a busted hip. If for some reason I lose this job, I will have to go on something. No on is ever going to hire me again. And I am considering applying for disability in the near future. I don't know how much time I may have left. I am currently NED, but you know how that goes. Anytime. And UI'd rather be enoying my life than working. My mom never got the chance to retire. I don't want to be like that.

@Dkatsmeow I'd already be calling a disability lawyer. It takes awhile to get through the process but it's worth it.
