Do you have any friends who can only see what's wrong with everything and everybody?

They can't seem to say anything positive about anything and are super quick to point out what they see or think is wrong with everything. One is always telling me about all of the long term side effects and problems that I can look forward to from radiation or chemo. I have started to distance myself from her, I just can't take it anymore.

Yes, I have some like that and I shut that crap down immediately. I won't listen to it or have it. I have a rule, if you don't have something good to say, don't say anything at all, as a matter of fact, just go somewhere else.

Yes. And, I too distance myself from it. None of us need to hear that stuff.

No one should be warning a cancer patient against chemo, radiation, or any other scientifically-approved treatments given by licensed oncologists. First, most (all?) of us know these treatments aren't fun or pleasant, and we don't need anyone, no matter how supposedly well-meaning, to frighten us more than we are before we undertake these life-saving (we hope) treatments. Second, there are no scientifically-vetted alternatives. If there are, our oncologists can offer them.

I'm not saying one shouldn't still read and try to learn as much as possible about the treatments proposed by one's doctor. It's our responsibility to be informed, if we can and to whatever degree feels comfortable and not anxiety-making. And doctors can be wrong; that's why it's sometimes good to seek second or third opinions. But - anyway, you get the idea!

Even lifeguards let go of folks they cant control or turn around. No sense for two people to drown especially when neither needs to be doing that.

      Best wishes

I can detect in 30 minutes of talking to someone if they are the "Debbie Downer" or not. I have no time for that,
