Does ACS assist with financial support for gas expense?

I have been out of work for over a year now and was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer dealing with the mylar sheath (Nervous sysytem).
As of today, I have completed 10 treatments out of 30 with radiation and having to travel back and forth to Tampa, Florida for treatments and having to live on credit cards.

      Hi rhumbert,

I don't have the answer to that question, but if you call the American Cancer Society at the phone number listed at the bottom of this, page they can tell you with certainty and can help you with resources in your area. Support is available till 6:30pm M-F CST.

I received a gas card and also ACS made arrangements for hotel overnight stays with participating motel/hotels. I was fortunate that my radiation provider was local. The gas card and hotel stays were very useful when I had the overnight stay prior to surgery and followup visit since the hospital/surgeon was over 150 miles away.

Please call ACS at[phone number redacted] and ask to speak to a Patient Navigator. Explain your situation and what it is you need assistance with. They do help with transportation expenses, including gas money. Whatever they are not able to help with financially, they will be able to tell you who to contact for assistance.

I wish you all the best and hope this is helpful.
