does anyone else get tired of seeing all the ads on TV from Lawyers looking for cancer cases?

Every night I see ads on TV about mesothelioma lawyers asking you to call to get "substantial compensation". I think the lawyers are the ones getting the compensation. It seems to me that they are preying on cancer patients to get rich.

God Yes!!! Talcum powder, weed killer... Everyday another product gets added. It's ridiculous!

If someone has a legitimate claim, more power to them and I hope they can collect. But it does seem to me that the lawyers are the ones getting the big money. They advertise that they collected millions for some poor souls, and I'm happy for them. But they are also making themselves rich doing it.

There are a couple of law firms in Nashville, our local news area, that have advertised for years. One of them is your throwback small-time firm looking Father and Son team. I had no idea they are a nationwide firm with hundreds of lawyers! The other is a self-proclaimed biggest and the best firm with 500 lawyers nationwide with specialists in just about anything you can imagine. I agree that they probably get the lion's share of what the judgments are.

I get so fed up with these “ ambulance chasing “ like ads on television. Surgical mesh, baby powder, faulty stent, etc. There have been times when I have seen two or more of these ads during a 1/2 hour television program. Cigarette ads have been replaced by litigiousness ads for sure.

I used to work in Workers' Comp. Same idea. A small percentage of injured workers rook the system and make it hard for everyone else. And those invariably have had attorneys. Some of the WC attorneys were great, and it makes sense for a serious injury or if you don't trust your employer, but I dealt with some REAL shysters. All they are looking for is the cash. Liability law is similar in that aspect. Some good attorneys and some real shysters.

I have often wondered about those large class action lawsuits where each person winds up getting $9.95 in a gift card from somewhere, how much the law firm gets. I promise it's more than 10.00.
