Does anyone have any (non-hormonal medication) ideas to help with surgical menopause?

I use a cold water pillow at night and black cohosh (until I start chemo) but need more ideas. Thanks!

I've heard that it is wise to avoid hot foods. Other than that, I know soy is actually a phytoestrogen and may or may not help with hot flashes.

I was taking gabapentin for joint pain and a nice side effect was that it also got rid of my horrid, horrid night sweats!!!! I also slept with the window open, just a sheet on my bed and a fan going in the bedroom....luckily I didn't freeze my DH out of the room....

Has a sleep study done to see if a breathing machine (CPAP) should be worn while sleeping? Sometimes if the body gets insufficient oxygen it can sweat a lot during sleep. The only other suggestion I'd offer is to set the temp at a low setting and give him a lot of blankets.

I sleep with a fan on at night and keep the temp down in my apartment. Don't sleep with pj's made of heavy silk because that makes you hot, I found that out first hand. Keep ice packs handy too just in case.
