Does anyone have experience with extravasation during chemo infusion?

My husband had this happen about 6 weeks ago, and he's still experiencing swelling and severe pain. Can anyone give me any suggestions for him?

      Hi Charlotte,

We have several people on WhatNext who are affected by pancreatic cancer, so I am sure someone will weigh in soon. In the meantime, I have reached out via social media to see if I can find someone who has shared this experience can give you some insight into how they have dealt with it.

Has your husband's health care team been able to give some advice or recommendations as to how he can be made more comfortable? Maybe they can make some suggestions, too.

Please know that we will do whatever we can to help.

I would encourage you to contact a PALS (Patient and Liaison Services) Associate with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Their one-on-one support can help you through this journey with your husband. Your associate can help you find the answers to your questions and connect you with someone who has been through the same situation. Sometimes just talking to someone who has "been there, done that" can make all the difference.

I don't know why the info above is redacted. Please visit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network website, pancan . org and click on the blue Know It box to get the phone and email.
