Does anyone know anything about the effects of steriods on Myeloma?

My dad was diagnosed with Multipe Myeloma a few weeks ago. From the outsome of the test we know he has had this for quite some time. Right before being Dx he was on Predisone for lung issues. He was then admitted to the hospital for Renal functions and a blood transfusion. In that he was diagnosed with Multi Myeloma. The treatment was mpre steriods. The whole time his renal functions have been bad. He was moved to rehab about three weeks ago and has not had a steriod treatment because he was unable to go to get the treatment. In his bloodwork on Thursday his renal functions have returned to within normal limits. Is is possible that the steriods are causing the renal issues?

I don't know the answer to your question, but here is an article from cancer.gov about steroids and multiple myeloma. http://www.cancer.gov/newscenter/newsfromnci/2007/multiplemyelomadexamethasone But since this is a medical question you might want to consult with your dad's physician so s/he can explain the effects of steroids on kidney function.

We are going to the doctor for the first time since his release from the hospital on September 18. I am nolt even sure this is a question I should be asking. I suppose the only dumb question is the one that is not asked. Thank you for the article.
