My husband and I are going to meet a friend I haven't seen in over 30 years tomorrow!!! She lives about 2 hours away so we're meeting halfway.

It is so odd, I've always considered her a good friend, even though we had pretty much lost touch for so much of our lives. She's been going through breast cancer recently ... so we even have cancer in common, unfortunately.

Best, we have our faith in common ... and I guess because of that, we both have a pretty cheerful outlook on life and after-life.

So, this is only cancer-related because we both have cancer. It is basically the cancer, I think, that has made us decide enough time (WAY too much time) has passed and that we need to reconnect.

13 years ago when my husband passed away my two best friends from college( with whom I had lost contact) reconnected with me. When we met it was if we were never apart. Hugs all around. We began meeting once a month for dinner. When I was diagnosed they continued to visit me once a month. I consider them a major part of my support system. And God has blessed me by bringing them back into my life.. enjoy your visit.

It's good that you are connecting ~ maybe you'll both make an effort to meet up a little more often? I lost my best friend of many, many moons last year to AML. H e had moved to about 3 hrs. away and we had only seen each other a few times the last few years. I wish I had forced myself to make that trip more often.

Thanks, everyone! We had such a great time. It was as if not a day had passed since we last saw each other! We only live only a couple of hours apart ... and we are going to try to get together once a month or so from now on. It is such a shame that we let so much time and life pass us by, but it was fabulous to reconnect.
