Fatigue and headaches....no treatment, no more test

Talked to my mom about masses in her lungs. NO more testing, she does not want to know. Suffering from EXTREME fatigue, only awake about 4 hrs each day. Appetite is great , she is doing some wheezing and coughing . I have no idea what to expect. Mri of brain showed nothing 2 mos. ago but now she gets severe headaches about 5 pm everyday, could things have changed that quickly ? Is fatigue normal with cancer ? Everything I see on line talks about fatigue and symptoms after chemo or other treatments. Just not sure what I am seeing. Mom dr can not answer questions without further test.

Have you gone to the Bonnie J Addario site and read the on line free material about LC?

You message is a bit hard to follow. The headachs at the same time every day may be related to something she is doing. But LC dose grow quickly.

Has she had mutation testing. I have posted a great deal of information about the importance of this testing.

If her Dr's cannot answer even basic questions then I think its time you consider a second opinion.

Fatigue is big with depression and so maybe you might get an order from hospice from her doctor so that you can secure an organization to take over your moms care. I don't know why she is having headaches but all at the same time is usually not a physical ailment, more of a psycho-social one. Best of luck to you, Carm.

I was having very bad head aches and I was worried..Had my eyes tested and needed much stronger glasses..It could be that simple.
Carm is so right about the depression and fatigue..plus post traumatic stress is a big one too. Causes stress and many other health issues.

But there is hope she just needs to get with the right Dr. and facility.

Fatigue is defiantly part of treatment, and it can get worse as time goes on. The headaches can be caused by anything, and can be nothing serious, but with out an MRI there is no way to know. Your mom may be depressed which is why she is sleeping so much and can, also too much sleep can cause headaches. .

I know scans and tests are a pain, and many people get claustrophobic in an MRI machine, but it is important that you mom have the scan so that her team knows what is going on and can adjust her treatment. Her refusal to stop treatment and take tests can be part of her depression.

Speak with her oncology team about seeing a therapist and/or psychiatrist who can specializes in treating cancer patients, talking about the journey is very helpful, also if she sees an MD they can prescribe meds that can help her as well.

So , do you all think the fatigue is non related to the lung cancer ? Seems depression is the general feeling.

Fatigue is very normal with cancer as is depression and stress. Before I was diagnosed with cancer I was having serious problems with fatigue.
Severe headaches can be from low blood sugar, low oxygen levels, pain medication rebound (when pain meds wear off they can rebound horribly), an allergy to something ... many things can cause headaches. I live with headaches so I can understand - try to keep a journal of what she has eaten, taken or done during the day and see if there is a pattern that can be changed. All the best to you, Tracy
