    financial assistance

Is there programs that offer help with expenses? We are needing assistance with the travel and stay for my surgery. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The first place I would check with is the hospital where you're going to see if they are aware of any local resources.

The following is a list I saved from a website geared towards pancreatic cancer, but it can be applied to other cancers too-- http://www.lustgarten.org/travelandhousingassistance They also have a list of links for places that may help with medical expenses http://www.lustgarten.org/patientmedicalexpenses

I would also check with the American Cancer Society Cancer.org to see if they have any ideas.

This is a valuable website that I recommend to all my patients. It is called NeedyMeds. This link will take you to the home page. Running across the page, there is a horizontal green stripe about 2 inches from the top. Within that green stripe you will see Brand Name Drugs, Generic Name Drugs, Coupons, Rebates & More, Free Clinics and Clinical Trials. You will find your medications on either the brand or generic name tabs. Also check out the section on the left side of the home page that says Diagnosis-Based Assistance under the second section labeled "Additional Resources." Here, when you click on that link it will take you to a page and half way down highlighted in blue will be "Diagnosis List." Click on that and then in Blue you will see the alphabet in blue, click on "C" and then the first on the list is Cancer-All; click on that. This will take you to a page that lists National and local resources. Usually National organizations are listed first and look in the column to see the resource they provide. Then scroll down to your state and look at the local resources. When you see one that interests you, just click on the name and it will tell you what they offer and also give a link to that resources website. Don't forget to look at all the drugs you take by brand or generic name to see what coupons you can get; this includes pain meds and chemotherapy. Also look into the Coupons, Rebates & More tabs to find personal care product coupons. On the left there is also a link under the Additional Resources that tells you how to get your scans discounted. This is a wonderful site and I am sure you have many friends who can benefit from it as well.
Best of luck to you, Carm RN.

You have been given an incredible amount of great information. There may be other grants available for other meds depending upon your additional needs.
