Follicular Lymphoma stage 2 terrible mouth and tongue sores

I am getting R-CHOP chemotherapy every 3 weeks and the only bad side effect is mouth and tongue sores. I gargle with salt water and baking soda all day long. I take 500 mg of lysine 2 times a day. Is there any thing else to help with this problem. I did eat some Kimchee 2 days ago because it's a healthy fermented food good for gut bacteria and my mouth was on fire for 5 minutes.

Magic mouth wash (your doctor must write a prescription), soft, bland foods and continuing the salt water/baking soda gargle are all good options to layer together. I ate a lot of cottage cheese and fruit cups, plus soups like lentil and split pea. Cool foods are less irritating than hot ones. Spicy or crunchy foods are not a good idea.

In 1993, when I was on chemo the first cancer, I was prescribed a tablet to prevent mouth sores . It must have worked as I didn't have any problems and I was terrified of the thought of mouth sores. The name of which I do not know since it was over 20 years ago. I didn't do R Chop, it had yet to be developed I think, but my treatment was called MOP. Maybe your doctor would know. Good luck, feel better.

When I had R-Chop I would eat pop cycles and chew on ice cubes. Did the same thing pre-Stem Cell Transplant and during my hospital staff. It is called "cold therapy." It worked for me. I have never had mouth sores. Good luck!

I had mouth sores so bad that I couldn't swallow water. Ice pops saved me too.

Thanks for all your answers! I do suck on ice during chemo. I guess I will have to give up tomatoes and other acid based fruits and veggies. I used to put salsa on everything but after chemo my taste buds have changed.
I am getting treatment for Follicular Lymphoma because I had a groin lypmph node removed that was diagnosed as a follicular Grade 3B. I had a few spots light up on my body with a pet scan and I decided to attack these cancer cells aggressively. I am praying my vegan diet will be my best weapon against the remaining cancer cells. I sat on this decision for years because I was originally diagnosed with CLL 13 yrs ago but just watched and waited. If you notice a lymph node growing don't wait a year like I did wishing it will disappear.
I appreciate your support and answers.

I went vegan the day I was diagnosed and after a year with stage 4. After a year 3 large nodes in my groin went all the way down. I had nodes sticking out on my neck that you could see and they went down....still have a large one behind my neck and very small ones around....Spleen, Abdomen or other inside stuff I don't know but something is working a little bit....but of course who knows ????

I had mouth sores bad. They got progressively worse each round. Turned out I was having allergic reactions to one of my antibiotics! When they changed it to a lozenge it worked beautifully and no more sores after that. I also found that the salt and baking soda rinse hurt more and switched to using JUST baking soda. It helped a lot! Magic mouthwash helped a lot too. Also just ended up avoiding all fruits and fruit juices too as they always caused acid reflux issues.

Also Biotine mouth rinse, toothpaste, and mouth gel helped immensely to add needed moisture to my dry mouth.

avegan2, waiting a year probably did not make much difference. The good thing about follicular lymphoma is that it is slow growing. I had symptoms for a year and was a pretty sick chick when diagnosed. That was ten years ago. I now have one tumor that was found in May 2014. It is getting the watch and wait treatment.
