    For anyone diagnosed with leukemia

Has anyone else in your family also been diagnosed? Prior to your dx or after?

Not leukemia (yet), but I developed 20q deletion Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a marrow cancer related to AML. It was at 26% of my marrow and was a mutation or two away from AML, which would have finished me. An aunt died of leukemia in 1974, unknown if AML or ALL, but she declined rapidly. Another ant died of an unspecified cancer about the time I was born, and dad to lung cancer.

No. No one in my family has ever been diagnosed with any type of leukemia. There are several different types of cancer in my family but not leukemia. That is the big mystery on how I got CLL, my oncologist says I was exposed to some type of chemical that may have caused it since I was fairly young when I was diagnosed. Now we suspect we may know but it doesn't change the fact that I have CLL and will have it forever or unless they find a cure.
