Has anybody taken Tykerb in combination with Xeloda?

Diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer Nov. 2011, had 9 months of chemo (HTC combo), then just Herceptin (with RX for letrozole-gained 50 pounds-YUCK!) for 9 months. Found out last week, (CT scan), that all the oriiginal tumors are gone but now have new ones have on my spine and lungs.

Just to make things a little more challenging, I moved at the end of the hard chemo. I wanted to be closer to family and my teenage daughter wanted to attend a face-paced high school. (She wants to graduate before this disease takes me to heaven.) So now I drive 90 minutes to see my ONC. I think this may have been a factor in prescribing the Tykerb and Xeloda prescriptions.

So starting later this week, I have to take 5 Tykerb daily for three weeks while also taking 4 Xeloda daily for two weeks. I am wondering If anybody has experienced the side effects of these prescriptions? Just wonder what to expect.

I am thankful for insurance..pharmacy said for these RXs--$5,881.48.

Until someone answers you, try chemocare.com or chemotherapyadvisor.com for information on these drugs. Both sites are free to join. Chemocare really helps to explain what you can expect from the drug and chemotherapyadvisor will list the regimens for all cancers. Good luck, Carm RN.
