I made it to nearly the end of my Xeloda course. Which is the oral version of 5FU.

My kidneys for very unhappy. So they stopped.

Just started the post surgical FOLFOX. Not doing well.

Everyone reacts differently to each chemo drug so someone else's experience may not be applicable. That said there are several chemo regimens and some work on one group and not another so don't give up just because you couldn't tolerate one chemo. Keep trying until you find one that you can tolerate and it kills the cancer. Good Luck

There are some other options out there that are used with Appendix Cancer. Some people cannot use the 5FU, and obviously you are one of them. There is a test that can be done, but most drs won't take the time to pre-test, because this sensitivity is so uncommon. Just another rare event in your life - as if appendix cancer doesn't fit that bill more than adequately!

Hang in there, maralyn. There are options and treatments out there.
