Has anyone here been given Radiation on the same part of the body, twice in their life?

I had Radiation on my neck and chest area 24 years ago, 28 treatments, then again 4 years ago on the neck, chest, and jaw area, 25 treatments. I had been told first that I couldn't have Radiation again on that area. Later after my Tumor board met and discussed it, they decided that since it had been so long ago that I had Radiation that it could be done again. Just seems like it would have been a yes or no answer from the beginning.

I had the same situation. Radiation to left breast and armpit 18 years ago and same area again earlier this year. But in my case, a plastic surgeon transplanted part of my abdomen to cover the wound on my left chest after the mastectomy, so I guess technically part of the area of radiation this time was new since it use to be my abdomen. I suspect that 15-25 years ago the thinking was that it would be too risky to irradiate the same area again, but they have probably considerable improve the technique and the equipment during that time.

I haven't but my former co-worker (60yr old male) was first diagnosed with esoph-throat cancer, chemo and radiation. A few months after that lesions were found in his brain and he underwent some type of rad for that. Not same body part exactly, but close? Unfortunately he broke his arm in a fall and was gone in a matter of weeks. r.i.p.Dan D.

I had radioactive Iodine in the mid 1970's for what was then experimental treatment for stage 4 thyroid cancer, this must have been a large dose as I was considered terminal at the time. My saliva glands were burned badly.
In 2004 I was again given RAI for reoccurring thyroid cancer the dose was probably lower but the records from the first treatment were destroyed long ago. After this one of my parathyroids started to act up, it took several years to diagnose what was happening. This was caused by the treatments.

I had 33 radiation treatments for tonsil cancer on a Varian True Beam. Last treatment was jan 2012. I was told I could never have radiation treatment again as I had received a lifetime limit on dosage of 72 ( don't remember the unit of measure). Was told if there was any reoccurance it would have to be treated with surgery and/or chemo.
