Has anyone started a nonprofit?
Asked by BreastCancer17 on Monday, April 27, 2020
Has anyone started a nonprofit?
As a person with Moyamoya Disease, a rare cerebral vascular, progressive disease, I'm starting a nonprofit for its research. I'm working on raising the money right now. Asking researchers interested in Moyamoya to be on the board of directors. How do I go about getting the actual nonprofit started once I'm to that point? Thanks.

I believe that's going to be an IRS issue. You have to file papers with them to establish a 501C. (I think that's the number) Google that for a good place to start. My best to you! I hope you do well!

Good luck with your plan! It's going to be a lot of work but should be worth it for you if you can handle the work. Gather yourself a team. Starting and running a 501C non-profit is just like running a business. You need good people, each with their own duties and a plan/mission statement/marketing plan, etc. Go get em!
