Lynne- last night on the news- we watched a report that a cup of coffee is good and prevents cancer , then we saw a report where another expert said that coffee causes cancer.
If this works for you- keep on doing it. if It does cause acid- stop- and don't worry about it. A good share of people anywhere are trying to make a name for their self- My daughter had a professor that was ground breaking in skin grafts in white lab rats. He was on TV-went to Congress-everything- then some guests flew here- and one just washed his hands-didn't get them dry. The ink from the black rat skin graft came off on his wet hands- BUSTED-----
So what's to stop somebody asking people if coffee makes them sick -- It's sort of stupid---go to a cancer clinic---Who has cancer- they raise their hands--- Did you drink coffee? YES--
Go somewhere---Do you have cancer? NO-- do you drink coffee? Yes Actually the pro coffee was done in England-mostly a tea drinking population- and the study was done on cancer patients- many of them has less secondary cancers than the tea drinkers.
The moral of the story is to be careful- moderate-and do what was best for you.

Ginger tea is great. I'm sorry BoiseB but they say that peppermint tea can worsten acid reflux. I have no personal experience in this matter.
The papain (enzyme) from an unripe papaya can help. I wonder if the core enzyme from pineapple (bromalain) might also help?
I have a gf who has such issues and she eats crappy. She goes out a lot, high fat, overcooked veggies, too many grains and yadda yadda. She also exercises quite a bit but is overweight. Go figure.
I also think that aloe vera (yes you can eat/drink the stuff if there are no additives) might be a godsend for those who suffer this affliction.
More raw or lightly steamed brighly colored fruit and veggies.
The grain used for your bread may be genetically modified or finished off with Round Up (glysophate) and some other herbacides which could actually be causing the reflux.
MHO only, of course.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

geekling-- one clue is acid--- we can't really eat foods with acids- we shouldn't eat tomatoes, onions, citrus, vinegar, even tea has tannic acid. coffee has it's own acids-and these acids can eat into our stomach linings, That cause our natural acids to be more painful..
