The time depends on the size of the facility, or more important, the level of technology at the facility. Where I go to at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, I can have the PET at 8 AM, have a 10 Am appointment with my Oncologist, and he will pull up the scan on a computer in the exam room and tell me a basic good or not answer. The scan hasn't been read by a Radiologist at that point, but the Dr. knows enough of what to look for to give me an answer. Then they tell me that if anything comes back other than what they thought, they will call me.
I can also go online and get the results when the Radiologist reads it and posts his findings. That is usually in less than a week.
Another place I have been to is much slower though. So, it just depends on your facility.
Wishing clean scans and happy times for you!
