To my knowledge, I have never heard of a HIPEC used for Bile Duct cancer however, there have been many new therapies of late and so hopefully something will be equally effective. Best of luck to you, Carm RN.

My wife died of cholangiocarcinoma in 2008 and I investigated HIPEC through Dr. Sugarbaker in Washington DC after it had metastasized to her peritoneum. Dr. Sugarbaker declined to treat her condition at that time. I recently inquired of Dr. David Bartlett at University of Pittsburg Medical Center who performed HIPEC one month ago on my sister who has primary peritoneal carcinoma (unrelated to cholangiocarcinoma) and I asked him if he ever did it (HIPEC) for cholangiocarcinoma and he did not say "no" but he said that the cholangiocarcinoma cells are very difficult to deal with. I would inquire of Dr. Surgarbaker in DC and Dr. Bartlett. They are the top doctors on this treatment. I assume that the cancer has metastasized outside of the liver into the peritoneum. If not then I would send records to Dr. William C. Chapman at washington University in St. Louis MO.

If you are refering to a Hepatic Artery Infusion Chemo Treatments (implanted chemo pump) then I'm you're person.
I was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma in Novemer of 2011. I had the pump installed that December. We use it off and on again depending on my bloodwork. I also receive systemic chemo.
I am being treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. My Doctor is Nancy Kemeny.
I know that pump saved my life, my cancer is stage 4 and was being very agressive by the time I was diagnosed.
