My are; "What do you need me to do?", "I will be here for you", "you don't deserve this", & "what a cute hat!".

It's not so much as what they said as what they did for me and my family. Meals were brought over, rides were given, and the best thing was when my sister and brother in law came for the day to take care of my son when I had my surgery. They both took off a day from their jobs, and Mike stayed with my son (who was seriously injured a couple months before my diagnosis) and his wife went with me and my husband to the hospital. To me, the actions of people who care about me are much more important than words.

My cheering section (especially on Facebook) has included statements from people that I have helped them by sharing my experience. That means a lot to me. I also have a friend and former mentor who is in his 80s and dealing with his own chronic illness. I appreciate that he "gets" me when I say things prefaced by, "This may sound weird, but..." because our thinking processes are similar.

One of my high school students who always wore a beanie, even though hats weren't really in dress code, told me he thought his acid green beanie would look good on me, when I was in hats and turbans and scarves during chemo. I assured him I had a t-shirt just that color I was going to use to make a hat! What a sweetie, to be willing to share.....

One of my older sisters who lives on the other side of the US from me just got diagnosed with breast cancer about 1 month ago. I was feeling sad that I don't get to see her very often and don't get to talk to her much because she is deaf. She made me so very happy when she e-mailed me recently and told me that my attitude since first being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002 has been inspiring to her. She feels like since being involved and knowledgeable in re to what I have been through in this time she has gained strength and confidence that she can get through her breast cancer treatment. I am very grateful to be able to be an encouragement to my sister. What she said about me has ma

Sorry for the error. I was just going to say that it was great to find out that good is coming from my experiences with breast cancer treatment.

I had a complete stranger compliment my hair as it was growing out (less than 1 inch in length). I was leaving to go home from work, but it just made my day because I thought who would actually style their hair this way if they had a choice.

The best thing I have had anyone say to me and and many of my friends have said it to me, is " I am praying for you"

The best would be several from people that I have known for years that later were dx'd themselves with cancer. Several have told me that the reason they were able to get up and keep going each day was because they watched me go through it 3 times. So if I can do it, so can they!

A funny one, sort of, was from a guy that I have known for years, but he missed the whole "I have cancer" thing. He walked up one day and said "man you look great, what diet have you been on?" I just said, Oh, it's the new cancer/chemo diet, works great!
