    How do you get a confirmed diagnosis? Treatments for ascites?

      Moxie,
      Ascites can be confirmed with an ultrasound. It can be managed with either a Thoracenthesis or Talc Pleurodesis if it is in the thoracic cavity, or with a Paracenthesis if it is in the abdominal cavity. If it is recurrent, a Pleurex Catheter should be recommended so that you don't have to have multiple procedures to drain the fluid. Some chemotherapies work well in dissipating the fluid as long as it is not a large amount. Best of luck to you, Carm RN.
