How long did it take to see benefits of Doxil?

Hi, my mother had her Doxikl treatment, but her last pt scan a week ago showed that her cancer is spreading. One of her doctors suggested ending the chemo and starting radiation, but her other doctor thinks we should wait until after the fourth dose of Doxil to see any improvement. Any advice? She has done 9 doses of carboplatin/paclitaxel, and it worked the first time (six doses) but stopped working after the 9th dose. The other option we have heard is ifosamide.

I assume that your mom is on Doxil Liposomal, and gets treatment every 4 weeks. It usually takes 2 to 3 treatments before it reaches a therapeutic level. Until then, her number will rise. However, if a scan showed progression, and she has had 3 treatments, then I would switch if it were me. The scan always tells the story. I hope the treatment works if you decide to stick with it. Sarcomas are hard to treat. Best of luck, Carm RN.
