Since chemo takes down your immune system and ability to fight infections surgeons will usually want you off chemo for about 6 weeks before surgery. If I was you I would get and appointment with the surgeon to see what he wants in the wait of a wait and to get on his schedule. Good surgeons will often have a month or two backlog so getting a date early insures you will not have to wait extra time. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They will need to take blood tests to measure platelets that are needed to fight off infection. If you eat well after chemo is over, you will be able to build those levels back up again.
