As many as they need! Stage IV cancer patients have to be watched very closely if their cancers are suspected to be active, I know other stage IV patients who routinely get scans once a month to see if their treatment is working...I am scanned every 3 months myself or less if my blood work is bad, or every 6 months if it looks like my cancer isn't doing much lately. It is what it is, the danger from the cancer is far greater than the danger from the scans. Good luck and God bless!

I honestly can't remember how many I've had. Must be close to 100.

The most important thing is to keep your cancer under control by constantly checking its progress and hopefully regress. .... What you can do is work with your doctor in identifying the best machines and level of radiation for each exam that will be balanced against the cancer behavior and any change in periodic blood test.....i have worked with my doctors on it and we decided for ct-scan and mri every three months instead of pet-cts unless blood tests show any change or images show any point of worry. ....... Of course i have been need since 2012 that is the reason he could make this decision. .... Talk with his doctor about your worries and how he sees the follow-ups for your husband in a medium and large period of time. ..... important to remember that cancer kills much more than follow-up exams do. .... Wishing ask the best. ....God bless your husband, you and continue blessing all of us. ...

I met a pancreatic cancer patient who told me she goes every 3 months for a cat scan, because they know her chemo only works 1-2 years. That way, they know when it quits working and switch her to the next best thing available.

HI Cheech, CT scans and Pet scans are what he needs to find cancer. However, have him take lots of vitamin C and E to rebuild the DNA that scans damage. Just like when you have a cold, take vitamin C to get better. Anyone getting scans should take them. May God Hold You through this, Christi
